I just got a pair of new mufflers for my 2001. They have no chroming on the tips, and I wanted to get a really shiny chrome or bright silver paint to put on the tips. Does anyone here know about any spray paint that is really shiny, either chrome or bright silver? I did find this paint on the net, but I've got my doubts about it.

Hi Marc,
When I replaced the mufflers on one of my Final 500's, I cut of the chrome tips from the original mufflers and also cut off the tips from the new mufflers. When a short flanged adapter and 2 muffler clamps, the original chrome tips are still on the rear. It's very easy to polish them up bright again while they're off as well. Good luck with whatever you decide.

As soon as I found out that the black paint could be easily removed & the stainless steel under the paint could be cleaned & shined, I did that. And I am also looking into having the tips on the new mufflers chromed.

That's odd. I had (2) 2001 Auroras and neither one had black tips. They looked chrome to me because I remember polishing them.

That's something new to me.

Gotta agree with Marc, black paint on stainless for '01.

That's funny, I don't think it was black paint. I think it was just all the carbon that ended up engulfing the entire tip. This explains why it was easy to remove.
