The Aurora is the most reliable car I've owned but I do own an earlier model of the first generation. The main thing to do is keep up with the cooling system. Outside of that they have a few common issues. For 2G I know there are Intermediate steering shaft issues, and water leaks as well as window regulators. Some other members with the same generation may chime in. Welcome to the forum!

As RCA1186 says, watch out for the window regulators. I own a 2001, and I had to replace both front & rear on the left side. As of last year, they were still available. I got them through Auto Zone.

X2 on the cooling system. Not as bad as the earlier Horthstars, but head gasket issues are prevalent on these engines if not properly maintained...

And famous AIRpump issue. Make sure you find mechanic who knows this car otherwise it will become a money pit for no reason. Tons of places has no idea how to fix Auroras and they will do more harm than good.

Doris and I have had 7 Aurora's, starting with a 1995 Autobahn series. Then a 1996, two 1997's, then a 1999 then a 1998 also a 2003. The series one's are a lot smaller but drive and ride like a race car. the series 2 is larger with more comfort. One thing to look out for, check the water pump belt often and change the Belt tension-er every 50 to 60,000 Miles.
