Need some help - I just bought a 1997 Aurora and while driving it home, it started raining. Ok, so I turned on the windshield wipers, no problem.
But when it stopped raining, I tried to turn them off. no luck. I eventually pulled off the road so I could "reboot" the car. After shutting it off, and starting it back up, the windshield wipers remained parked in te home position like they should.
After a bit of research, I have concluded the most likely candidate is the pulse control board. However, the part number I recieved for this component (22154753) is no longer available, even as old inventory, anywhere around me. Google offered no luck in identifying a compatible replacement.
I am open to suggestions, but would prefer to replace the faulty component, and not resolder any bad connections. Does anyone know what the currently available replacement part is?
Jeff

It can be wiper stalk switch or wiper motor as well. But i would check the switch sometimes using electrical spray to remove the gunk can help from what I seen including Intrigue aurora alero buick regal almost never saw pulse control board to go bad. you need to read mostly forums about those cars not youtube videos most people dono those cars well and just assume . For example i seen people changing MAF sensors left in right on Auroras intrigues for specific problems and it never solved their issues. Why they changed them because by other manufactures and old days this was common thing to do. Me any my friends had tons of olds and only 1 had issue with MAF sensor but that's because prev owner mass things up. Otherwise form day 1 to 200k never changed MAF sensor. Or when you get code for CAT Converter on Aurora 99.999999999% it will be CAT itself where no other cars it can be this code when its just issue with 02 sensor. Aurora usually will specify that its 02 sensor. But if you got shops that dono the car they will first try to change 02 sensor and if this not working than they will replace the CAT so now you as consumer out $200 that could of been spend on CAT. So always try basic troubleshoot tings first. not just put parts in to it and hope it helps. Yes it can be pulse control board but 95% sure its not.

Marc, I too have the exact same problem with the only way you can turn the wipers off is to shut the ignition off. My Aurora is a 1996 model with 37,000 miles very nice car It was my Aunts' .
So, how did you fix the problem ? Very much appreciate your comments and suggestions

The only sure way to find out is to have it scanned.

If they didn't charge you for scanning, then they didn't scan it.

Scan wouldn't tell you about the wipers in a classic. Switch is going to be pretty much no option but the salvage yard.

If someone was savvy, you could electronically graft a similar year switch from a GM column most likely but it would be a lot of work or it may not fit with trim pieces etc. electronically, a lot of them are the same... but it can get messy. A riviera one wouldnt be too difficult after 96 or so I think when I last looked
