Fairly simple question. So based on the fact that the 4.0 is the exact same block as the 4.6 only with a smaller bore. Can we run the 140 amp alternator from the Cadillac on the 4.0 without any modifications? 🤔
I'm basically asking if Caddy alternator will bolt up the same as the Aurora alternator...
As always, any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Fairly simple question. So based on the fact that the 4.0 is the exact same block as the 4.6 only with a smaller bore. Can we run the 140 amp alternator from the Cadillac on the 4.0 without any modifications? 🤔 I'm basically asking if Caddy alternator will bolt up the same as the Aurora alternator... As always, any and all help is greatly appreciated! what year? I believe 96-99 auroras, at least 98, use a cs144d alternator and a 3.5l v6 from 2001-2002 would use an AD237 (125 amp) and a 4.0 from 2001-2003 uses a AD244. The 4.6 cadillacs would use, probably, to 98 a cs144d (140amp) but in 1999 or 2000 with the engine changes, switch to a Ad244 I know one year cadillac tried to have a cooling loop into the alternator. that wouldnt be a fit. Well I just googled. For some reason 2001-2003 alternators for 4.0 are the ad237. heres a 2001 4.0 ad237 heres a 2001 deville ad244 without being able to compare either in person, and not having tackled an alternator on a 2000+ northstar, I would guess that the mounting is the same but the belt length may vary. it looks like the cadillac alternator because it has 7mm larger stator, stands off the engine further to allow the mounting ears to be in the same spot. However, I would be certain to check these things for sure because the mounting tab that takes a long bolt is longer and just one on the cadillac while the 4.0 has two. Does your alternator use both of those mounting spots? if you have pics, could you show how they are mounted on your car? Which to my understanding IS a 4.6 block but you have your olds aurora accessories on it? Or is it still 4.0? is there a bracket that bolts to the engine that it uses? if you were curious what AD237 stands for CS130(d)/CS144(d) was the 2 previous generations of alternators. CS144d on the 95-99 cars uses the same plug as AD series alternators. CS130/CS144 withhout the d behind the name used a plug that was different and the fans were much larger externally CS stands for Charging System 130 stands for two things depending on how you look at it. 1 is either 1st generation or 130 is the stator diameter. If 1 being 1st gen, 30 means 130mm stator. not sure what D meant in the later years but the casings, fans were upgraded. It could mean Delphi since Delco-Remy made CS130 but Delphi made CS130d. The rectifer bridge is the same on the older ones. AD230-244 alternators improved the electronics and fans more so over the CS130d-CS144d previously. They were less reliable because of heat and build quality. the wiring is the same for those 2 alternator series

I'll find out this week. I just got in a Deville DTS alternator for the same model year. Gonna swap it out along with the AC compressor and also out in the new Northstar performance from mount and the new ASI performance aluminum radiator 😊

FYI: That listing says the Seller is in "Chino, California," but if you check the Seller's info, it says he's in China... That said, I've seen plenty of reviews that say Chinese-made radiators are as good for the money, as anyone's. (I seriously doubt a Chinese Seller is going to bother sourcing a non-Chinese-made automotive part.)
I only mention because you said you weren't sure of the Manufacturer. While I'm no help there, I have been using eBay for a long time, & I truly hate that it allows foreign Sellers to conceal their point-of-origin. You can also generally tell by the estimated shipping time, but there actually are some Sellers who sell "on-spec" --in which case, they won't make your purchase to your specification, until you place the order.
---Well, I just checked to estimated shipping time, to me (Iowa), & it says four days. So, either the ETA is B.S., or they have a warehouse in the midwest. Shipping to me, from anywhere in California, always takes a week longer than shipping from the East Coast or down south. (Going by tracking, things tend to sit in a terminal for 4-5 extra days.)----
I am also very very leary of Chinese-made electronics (and knock-offs), from odd-ball manufacturers. But, as I say, this shouldn't be an issue at all, with a radiator. (Another thing that just kills me, is when a Chinese company digs up a classic brand-name to sell there junky products under.)
Sorry about the Rant. Looking at 'deceptive' eBay listings just sets me off.
