Ignition does not turn correctly installed

97 Aurora (our 2nd) no idiot lights no dash no DIC no windows cranks over but doesn't want to run. when running backfires, runs bad.
Cylinder out turns smooth even turns to Accessory it will NOT TURN TO ACCESSORY when installed. Most of the time key gets stuck in Cylinder. Switch turns great and will turn to accessory position.
Started and ran great yesterday. Took it out for 10 mile test. This AM idiot lights: emergency break and check break fluid. Both are fine. They went away after a few Start/run.
Then key issues began. Next run online start position. Dies in run position.
Taking our 1st 97 Aurora to paint in the AM. Really wanted this Aurora one running. The 1st is a daily driver about 350k. Did head studs in 2013 had about 210k then. Over heat thing.
I read post on ignition switch.
Can't get my 2 brain cells around why they won't work when together.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Windows are down, guess I can jump each motor lol

Check your Grounds. Battery cable, chassis, and Engine ground end to ends.
See that Shifter is properly engaged in Parking position.🤔

But how does a gnd issue cause ignition cylinder and switch to not rotate only when they are together?

I found the issue. The switch TAB that goes into the column broke off and ws inside with piece that is between the lock cylinder and the switch had to be removed that part to retrieve the tab. This explains the issue of not going to Accessory but not the power to the windows, dash, etc. My thinking it's a sealed switch should work unless 180 out very hard to imagine that. Ordered switch Amazon $62 it'll be here Wednesday.

Sorry guys I was wrong the switch will not rotate to the accessory position. I'll disconnect the block today.

Well I got to initiate switch in and got it installed today. All's working good. Even have accessory position available. Now I can continue working on light issue in window issues Need some parts
