So on my way to school a few months ago I was on the highway, gave her some gas to pass and she jerked made a noise and wouldn't shift into 4th anymore. Just 1st, 2nd, 3rd and reverse is all I had. Stopped driving the car for a month and decided to take it in to school cause it was open shop. Was getting on the highway and she did it again but now I didn't have 3rd. I have an input speed sensor code. Don't remember the exact code but it wasn't a no signal code. Had the car for 3 1/2 years, changed the trans fluid and filter shortly after I bought the car. My guess would be that it's the shift solenoids and the speed sensor. Any ideas? I'd like to do some diag but not sure where to start.

Put that code on here. There are some very knowledgeable people here who might be able say what the problem is.

if you are getting an input speed code, then the input speed sensorr is working, its just not seeing what expects out of the output side so it more than likely is the solenoids. if you drop and pan and see they are not broke, dont waste money on them. you can try and drop the trans on the one side with the cradle and try and access the side cover so you can replace the main filter. but you are halfway to having it out by then, I just pulled my engine and transmission to reseal my lower case half on the engine and I had no 3rd or 4th with mine either, went through the transmission and found mine to be perfect inside so that only left the convertor, the viscous lockup convertors have a issue to overheating and busting the coupler, when that happens you get no input speed into the main input shaft cause its like the trans is disconnected from the engine, all you are doing is keeping the fluid pumping . replaced with a Non viscous lockup, Do not buy a pinned lockup , they are junk. Earlier ones work perfect.

I rebuilt the entire transmission while I had it out. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel for alot of my other projects also. While I was rebuilding it I also replace the solenoids with the updated versions but mine were not broken. youtu.be/FjEo9xWXlQI
