The former owner dragged his feet so long getting the sunroof issue taken care of the floor rotted out under the battery. Is there a patch panel available? I did a search for Aurora on car-part.com and it didn't find ANY Auroras in Michigan to get one out of.

Morning members..... had this to happen to me about 8yrs ago. I was able to make a water tight repair be using some galvanized pans used for separating the joists of a home from the bricks for termites. It cuts very easy w/tin snips & shapes just as easy. I used a bead of RTV sealant w/ self-tap 1/2" "button" head screws.

I did that before asking here. Aurora body repair parts are scarce.

I have no idea what zip code you're in, but there are a lot of Auroras in Michigan to hopefully get a floor board patch out of. Search for something other than floor pan and you should see lots of Auroras for what you need.

I am usually pretty good about finding parts, I must not have had one of the options set right. I checked for doors, a bumper cover, nothing came up. Oh well. Thanks

I just searched again and found a bunch this time so it was probably a glitch or something I did wrong.
I think this floor part can come out of a 2000-2005 LeSabre or one model of Cadillac as well because they have the battery under the seat too. I'm going to stop at a local yard and see if he has anything. He doesn't participate in the car-part system.

Best of luck with that. You could probably easily fix it with fiberglass too.

That crossed my mind but a local yard is going to cut that section of the pan (like a sink) out of a LeSabre for me so I can cut out the old part and weld it in properly. I want this car to last because I have come to really enjoy how it performs, drives, handles, etc. I just wish they didn't have so many electronic issues.

Glad you found one(and close by). Good luck with the repair. You along with the rest of us will hate the day when we will have to depart with our Aurora.

It's a good thing I have to do this in a way, I pulled up the rear carpet and the padding is still wet from the prior leak. The car hasn't gotten wet since I bought it in November so I know the former owner didn't take care of that and lied to me. If you want to know if someone is an ethical person or not, buy a used car from them. I believe in full disclosure regardless of the outcome and did not get it in this case. I know, buyer beware and all of that. I just wish people were honest.
So now I'm gutting the interior. The seat bolts came out without fighting them so I am thankful for that. Now to figure out how the front of the console comes out... I found a thread here but it's old and the pics aren't available anymore. The service manual doesn't show it so I'm putting my detective hat on now.

Well that was an adventure. I got the old piece cut out, what a mess. Having to take out most of the interior really sucked but it is what it is. The docs you sent me were a lifesaver, Paul. Thank you. I have the new piece almost all welded back in. It got HOT this week, 90s all week so I have to wait for it to cool down to finish. I can't work in heat like this, it wears me out almost immediately. But at least I know the battery won't be falling through the floor now. The previous owner must have run over something, there's a puncture hole under the passenger seat. It's definitely a puncture, not rust and the metal folded in. I don't know what this guy did with the car but he wasn't nice to it.

Finally got it done yesterday. The area inside the red is the battery compartment that I got from the local salvage yard out of a Buick LeSabre. My goal was to trim it down in the shape of a sink and that's what I ended up doing. The vertical piece that the seat clips into was not damaged and has the VIN stamped in it so I left that part in and cut down the piece they gave me to fit. It's rock-solid again. I got the carpet and console back in today and made sure I cleaned the connections on the battery cable re: the info I saw about ground issues on some cars. It started right up so I am happy with that. Now all the trim has to go back in. Oh, I also repaired that stupid data connector under the driver's seat hoping that would fix the passenger door electronics but it didn't. At least it's fixed and sealed up now too.

Did you check the wiring in the rubber boot in the door jambs? These cars notoriously break wires there.
