I love this car, but there is almost ZERO information with details on how to do major work on them. If it weren't for the few issues I mention below I wouldn't touch it right now because it runs like a brand new car. I have searched YouTube and of course websites and I think there's an old thread showing this on one of the Aurora sites but the pictures are no longer available. I have the service manual but there are many things that are always left out when it comes to removing them. I really, really don't want to pull the engine completely to replace the seals but will if I have to.
The issues: Oil leaks. I'm not 100% sure which gasket(s) is leaking yet, I assume it's the pan and lower block half right now. While I have it out, I need to replace the crank sensors (code) and then it should be fine.
Transmission: The external speed sensor freaked out on me so I changed that. It worked fine for a while, but then the speedo started jumping a little again. Not as bad but still does occasionally. The TCC sensor is bad, this I know from the code and that it won't kick into lockup. So while I have it down enough to get the pan off I will change the internal speed sensor as well.
I have watched a couple of series on how to replace the seals/gaskets on the lower end, which is ok, but what I'm concerned about is not knowing what all I have to disconnect before I start taking out the cradle bolts. I've seen videos where they've removed the front covers, but why? Coolant, oil, trans fluid, unbolt and hang the calipers, radiator, air box, the wiring harnesses, outer tie rods at the spindles, trans lines, heater hoses, what else? I may replace the struts while it's apart, one is making a cowbell noise when I hit a bump.
This isn't my first rodeo but it is a different style car than I've worked on for the last twenty years and I know there are idiosyncrasies with this design so I'm looking for things to watch for.
