Are the dipstick and dipstick tube lengths the same on a 1997 and 1999 4.0 engine?

98% sure it is the same. Since its same engine with almost 0 changes.

1997, i don’t know. The 1999 dipstick was longer than my 1995 by a quarter inch or so.
When full it would be halfway on the stick with the 1999 where the 1995 would be at add when full.
The tubes were the same. I did shorten the tube to correct so with 7.5 quarts it indicates full.
More trouble than it was worth to shorten the tube because I had to extend the length at the bottom to keep the plastic section from coming out and not wanting to enter back into the tube when withdrawing the dipstick.
