Have a 01 aurora with onstar changing head unit out wired up the stereo adapter and no power. I don't know if not getting a good connection with that dumb ribbon cable in the back or what. I tried checking the cable for power and doesn't seem to have any. Any help you guys can give would be awesome!

Do you have Bose or non Bose? what model adapter did you get? Maybe there is an issue with new radio or blown fuse on the radio? maybe adapter is not good its hard to say .. did you remove the ribbon cable from its holder so you can actually pull it out a lil and make sure that adapter is connected correctly to it and not lose or upside down. I am in NC so kinda far from you.

I didn’t pull the ribbon out was afraid of it getting unplugged further in the dash. I like the plug n play set up but makes a pain to wire. Do think I need to get the one that has the stuff to retain steering wheel controls and the on-star?

If you have bose than your car will have speakers inside back doors if there no speakers than its non bose. You do need to pull ribbon out if your radio is is going deep inside because you wont be able to close the dash board bezel. Other thing it is possible that its not plunged in all the way when the ribbon is not pulled out. you alwsyas can put ribbon cable back if you wanna get OEM radio installed. You dont have to get the one that retain onstar and chimes if you dont care about that. About steering wheel control its another module and you have to fish out the wires next to the steering wheel to connect that module since you have the ribbon cable. 2003 cars came with Standard wires like most other cars its no longer ribbon cable makes job easier to tap in to. But i did install radio on my 2001 that i used to have and in 2003 that i have now. I did use an Onstar adapter since i do wanna keep the chimes. Both times i did remove the ribbon and reg plug from its place to push down more inside since there was no room to get radio all the way in with all the wires at the back. Only thing you have to be careful with the ribbon cable so use 2 hands to slide it out from its place. Other thing makse sure that the wires on that adapter is Matching the pins for the ribbon cable. Make sure the wires are the same on the adapter

I don't know how to post pics on here. Do I just need a antenna extension to hook that up the adapter I got doesn't fit to the car hook up.

As i see on picture above red wire has to be right after yellow but on your picture the 2nd thing is empty and red on on #3 not #2 try to put some unused wire on #2 after yellow and see if you get 12v as i understand red wire on power antenna and not on accessory 12v. but use a multimeter to check without plug in the radio.

Both spot are a 12v constant from what tester is saying

I think thats how it should be i cant tell you for sure of colors since i am using on star chime adapter and my colors are not same at the plug but my plug does have 2 wires together no blank space after yellow so i think it should be 2 12 volts even on pic above of the car plug same thing .
