The heat in my 2001 4.0 has not been good for a long time. I had the thermostat replaced & the heater flushed. Very little improvement. All of the items in back of the dashboard checked out OK. That left the heater core to be at fault. But the price I got for that was $1300!!!! I then spent $196 on a 2000 watt inverter and $24 for a 1500 watt room heater. Heat restored!!!!! Pics............... The heater, tied in place on top of the console lid............ The inverter.................. The inverter control....................

Something better than nothing like in my case. Last thing I had done was new Pump, Thermostat, & Heater core was good since I installed a new one Years ago. Still no Heat, definitely something inside the Dash. Only thing Blown is a 50Amp Fuse for the Smog Pump which is Burn out. I know the Electronics on these Cars are so sensitive and I think my problem was to many times Swapping out the Battery from AUROD X to my Impala, & Caprice every other Weekend. I'll attempt to work on it once again before Summer...

The inverter control.................... id like to know what kind of amp draw that is on your system and how much discharge it causes you to have (if any) or if your alt keeps up

The inverter control.................... id like to know what kind of amp draw that is on your system and how much discharge it causes you to have (if any) or if your alt keeps up I don't know what the amperage draw is when the heater is running. It has 3 settings.....700 watts, 900 watts & 1500 watts. The DIC reads 12.5 volts with the heater at 700 watts when idling in drive. Going at about 35 MPH the DIC is reading 14.3 volts. I have not had to use any of the higher settings, because 700 watts seems to be enough for the coldest temeratures where I live.....Fairfield Co., Connecticut. I still get some heat on the defroster setting, so I use that also. I think that the alternator supplies adequate current because the light for it has never come on.
