Hello, I just recently bought a 95 Aurora, it was involved in a front end deer collision, the damage was NOT major at all, it still needs a new hood, but that is only part of the problem. It will shift so hard when shifting into reverse, and bangs into drive as well. I drove the car from Florida back to Ohio with no problems on the highway(but still banging into reverse and drive when i stopped for gas and food). If i let the car sit overnight, in the morning it will drive like a champ for about 5 minutes, then it will hesitate(like it has a bad fuel filter or something), then it will stick into 2nd gear and not do anything else. I need serious help here. Today i bought the ac delco kit and replaced both trans selenoids and filters, new tranny fluid, new oil and filter, but when i stick it into o/d lookout, 2nd gear comes back and wont shift out of it, and the SES light comes on. Also it no longer does the banging at all, smooth as glass. It will drive fine for the first 5 minutes in o/d, then it will stick itself in 2nd and wont shift out of it. I need help here! You can email me at SilverSpyder33@hotmail.com, or SilverSpyder33@yahoo.com. Also, the starter, plugs wires, and ECM WERE RECENTLY REPLACED. It's a nice car with tinted windows, air ride, and 20" chrome wheels and tires. PLEASE HELP ME with this issue!! THANKS!!

You're probably going to need to get it scanned. Do you know anyone that owns a shop etc with a relatively nice scanner? You need a scanner that can do both OBDI and OBDII to read codes from a 95. First off, does the speedometer seem at least remotely accurate(no jumps while change speeds etc). Those would be symptoms of an output speed sensor. There is also a chance this could be your input speed sensor, but I would never dive into that without finding out what your codes are. Approximately what rpm is the engine running at when shifting from park to reverse?

i gave up on this guy on the AF's.... i told him precisely what his problem is. solenoids or more precisely the pcs filter from 'recall' kit. he dropped pan and refilled fluid and somehow thought this will 'cure' it.... even after i almost step-by-stepped the procedure... here's origial thread for educational purposes: www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=686312regards

LOL Sorrie. no disrespect and i thank you for all your help, but listen to what i have to say. I bought the recall kit from the dealership in front of my house earlier in the day, replaced both selenoids and L bracket that came with ac delco kit. this gave me third gear back, but im still having the 2nd gear and SES problem when i shift into overdrive. i guess ill have to drive it in 3rd for now until i can diagnose the real problem. regards

Have you scanned it or had it scanned to see if there are codes in it? That would be the best start. If the SES light is coming on therer should be a code(s) stored.

If the light is coming on, get it scanned and find out what codes are in it.
