I have the Bose setup and I was looking around for the CD changer. All I know is that the system sounds great with no modding necessary!

Thats true. I am hoping to find out the power output that it has. I'm not into the whole audio scene, as long as it has a CD player, I'm happy. I'll spend money on multimedia for in my home.

I may add one or 2 10" subs if the money is freed up, but the Bose system is good enough for me!
Thanks for the stats gents!

On the new Aurora, it's a ~220 watt system? There are 8 speakers. I think on the classic it's also ~200 watts and a 7 speaker system. I believe there is only one woofer in the parcel shelf on the classic, while there are two on the new one. I've always been impressed with the Bose systems in my car. They are certainly good enough for driving to. But in reality I spend a lot more time with it off, listening to my Corsa sound system.

Also the 12 disc cd changer was only available on the 1998 and after. I wish it would of been available on the 1997's.
Oh well,
Ryan

Hey Jim, I read your post on the other audio thread, if I read the service manual correctly the Bose doesn't have tweeters in the front.
However it has 3.5"s in the rear door.
For those interested, non-bose cars can have 3.5"s put in the rear door. Makes the rear sound extra good for those pax.

Do you mean that the rear doors are already wired for speakers? (He says, hopefully.)

wired? sorry no. But the holes are there. However I don't recommend powering them by the OEM radio. You may overheat the amp in the radio running 2 pair of speakers in the rear.
I have replaced the front speakers with polk audio 6.5's. Kept the OEM tweeters and powered by the front channels of the OEM radio.
I placed 3.5's in the rear doors, Rockford Fosgate, I put 6x9's Polk Audio's in the rear deck. Powered all the rears by a 300x Rockford Fosgate.
Also have put in 2 10HE Rockford subs powered by a 500s Rockford Amp installed a bridge between the two amps to look like one big one.
Win any sound competitions? um NO. Sound REALLY good, yes. All of my computer functions still work as well as steering wheel controls. 0 theft risk as you can't see anything but OEM with trunk closed.

Interesting. My car has 2 speakers in each of the front doors, 1 component and what appears to be a 5.5"
and then the rear deck 6x9's and the bass module.

I checked the service manual. I hate it when I'm wrong. The electrical schematic and the audio system descriptions differ. The base model schematic lists 2 speakers in each front door and 2 rear deck speakers. The bose schematic lists, 2 speakers in each front door and 2 rear door speakers and a sub in the deck no 6x9's. It gets better. Audio system descriptions from section 9A of the service manual. Option codes. UX7 4 speakers: 1 in each front door and 2 rear deck. UW6 6 speakers: 2 in each front door and 2 rear deck. U98 8 speakers: 4 in each front door 2 in each pax door, 2 in the rear deck. Obviously a typo in the service manual since that makes 12 speakers. However 2 in each front door and 2 in each rear door plus 2 rear deck makes 8, sound like my creation. BTW I am looking for a very small amp to put behind the radio to amp the front two w/out havng to run more speaker wire front to back to front risking a large amount of buzz. For those of you unaware, there is a cavernous amount of room below and behind the OEM radio.

lol, i suppose that my amp wont work that i'm selling, 600 watts rms, about 14" long by 7" wide 2" tall. although i do have a rockford fosgat 125 watt amp, but when i got into an accident a while back the guy that hit me just happened to hit my car so it crushed the amp between the box and the frame, heh, i think the gain knob came off otherwise it'd be fine, but i dont know where that flew off too. hah, i guess this is a worthless post

My RPO list gives 2 options for the audio system. UP0 and U1F, and 2 different RPO's for the number of speakers, UW6 which is 6 speakers and U97 which is 7 speakers. If you have the Bose system you should find U1F and U97 on the RPO list, and U1S if you have the CD changer in the trunk. As far as I can see there were only two options for speakers, the Bose has two in the rear doors and a sub woofer on the parcel shelf while the normal set up has two on the parcel shelf and none in the rear doors. Both options should have two speakers in each front door. My book doesn't list UX7 or U98. Maybe the options changed from year to year?

Wow...I think Bose must of upgrade the system for 98+
My Aurora sale brochure lists Bose Acoustimass as having 6 premium speakers, a rear deck mounted "bass module" (whatever that means) and optional 12 disc changer. And I have all this eqiupment in my car.
Doesnt suprise me that GM would get Bose to upgrade the "top of the line" audio in the late model Classic Aurora, to compete with other luxury cars, (sporting 10+ speaker digital sound...BMW 7series comes to mind)

No Bose for me... (which I already knew) I've got UP0 and UW6 on my code list, which accurately gives me the non-Bose 6-speaker system. Still sounds awesome!
