Hey, i just got some new Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XR601 speakers, for my front doors, i was just wondering how difficult it is to remove that panel and install new speakers as well as the processes that are necesary to do it, i've never had to do these speakers before so its new to me, i've done subs and my deck quite a few times though.

1. It's easy.. just unbolt the 2 bottoms screws, and the one in the middle, then smack on the bottum going upward.
2. why would you buy excelon?

That's real easy.
There is nothing wrong with eXcelon, is the step up brand from the regular Kenwood brand. I have an eXcelon deck and eXcelon speakers for mids and tweets, and they sound decent.

The only thing from kenwood that at least makes me smile are their home theater in a box systems. all of their car audio ******* is a joke... their head units are OK.. but their speakers just dont satisfy.

I would assume it all comes down to budget, buy what you feel is best value and rate it against the quality of sound.

Well, i finally found some time today and installed them, they were a little small (I got the 6.5" speakers, i couldn't find any i liked in the proper 6.75" size) so i had to make adapters for them.
I think they sound very nice. very clear.i would say well worth the 40 dollars i paid for them.
I think i will get the matching 6x9's sometime soon so everything is matching.
I also have a Kenwood Deck that i've been pretty happy with, although i wouldn't mind getting an Alpine deck sometime later on.

Nice, I like to get an Alpine also, I like the 9835 unit, I think that one looks dope.
You got any photos of your installation.
Also are you doing anything with the tweeters.

Unfortunately i don't have a digital camera, actually i don't even know where our regular camera is. but maybe when i'm back at school i'll find someone with a digital camera and take off the door covers and take pictures.
I left the stock tweeters because the ones i got with my speakers were too small for the hole. so i just left them mounted on the speaker.

You know if you have tweeters, usually you can mount them in 3 different ways,
1. surface. 2. flush. 3. swivel.
The Aurora would be the flush mount.

same as the front speakers, Kenwood eXcelon X698, although these aren't the dual-mag like the fronts are.

Nice.
If you still have the stock radio in there, you should be able to tell the difference from stock speakers to aftermafket ones, it'll sound way better.
