I don't see any information here about audio upgrades on the 2001+ models. I don't know if that's because no one knows what will work with this car, or if they just have no desire to. Anyway, I've been doing some research and thought I'd let you know what I've found. Headunit Removal: 1) Gently pry trim panel from dash, lifting up away from lower panel. 2) Push two locking springs on each side of car stereo toward car stereo to release. 3) Pull car stereo from dash. Headunit Installation: The Aurora doesn't have a wire harness that it uses. The radio has a connector on the back of it that slides into a sort of "dock". Basically the radio can be slid in and out of the car without having to remove any wire harnesses. To install a new headunit will require some work, but it's not much harder than a regular vehicle from what I understand. Installation kit: www.cardomain.com/item/SCOGM1583B?vq_id=noneWire Harness: www.cardomain.com/item/SCOGM07B?vq_id=noneAntennae Adapter: www.tune-town.com/Cars/stuff/Oldsmobile/2001-02_Oldsmobile_Aurora.htmSpeaker Replacement: The Front speakers are 7" (or 6 3/4"). This is not a common size. There are very few speakers that will 'drop' right into the Aurora. Either you can find a 7" speaker, or you can find or make an adapter plate that goes from 7" to 6 1/2" for example. The rear speakers are 6x9's and most all 6x9 speakers should fit into the Aurora.

I should also mention that the information above isn't gauranteed to be correct but it is to the best of my knowledge. This is just what I've found by contacting companies and finding information out about what will work with the Aurora.

Is this for the Bose radio, or the standard? I think most of the speakers are the same size either way, though, just there are two more with the Bose (and they are hopefully different in construction). I already did all the audio upgrading I'm going to do. Basically my 8 speakers now pipe into two resonance chambers and out 4 round openings into the atmosphere. It's an aural delight. It only plays the one song, but it's one you could never get tired of...

This is for the non-Bose. The bose just adds 5.25" speakers to the rear doors and if you change one component you basically have to change them all.

Sorry but your information on your wire harness for 2001+ Auroras is inaccurate. The dock and lock stereo requires a digital interface because of the climate control, air bags, on star, etc. I know because I replaced my factory unit with a Kenwood Excelon KDC 979. I have pics if anyone is interested. www.geocities.com/speedsterray@sbcglobal.net/photopagespiral.html

You will lose the Onstar interface and the door chimes yes, but that is all. The harness I posted will work fine as long as you're fine with losing the onstar and warning chimes. The pictures would be great. The more the better so I can see exactly how things are put together on the Aurora.
