On my DIC the trans fluid life always says 100%. Does anyone know why it never moves? It's obviously not accurate.

Actually it is accurate. On both my Aurora's it always says 100 %. If you look in your owners manual, it will tell you that unless you drive under certain severe conditions, the transaxle fluid never needs changing, but I don't think anybody on this board buys into that. I know I don't, I'm getting mine changed today ;D

It says 100% on your 2nd gen? Mine doesn't have transmission fluid life displayed...?

Yea, its only on the classic. I always took 100% on the DIC for the tranny fluid as "ok, my tranny cooler is working properly"
But if the fluid gets dark, I still believe in changing it.

I used to do some towing with the car that I had before my 2001 4.0, a 1972 442 W-25 455. Even though the 442 had a trans cooler, I would change the trans oil & filter myself twice a year. It was an easy job, and I figured, "why take chances with the trans"? _________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

I think they just programmed it to stay at 100% to make you think your car is running good. Because it sounds like everyone's Aurora says that. When would it actually move?

It would only move if the tranny is overheated or overstressed. As stated in the manual, you only have to change the Dexron III fluid if the car is being used under certain extreme conditions. However, there is a general consensus that changing the fluid is a good idea. GM doesnt believe in "ya everything is ok" counters...lol cept for the MONITORED SYSTEMS OK feature
