I got my computer hooked up to the ECM today, but I'm having a little trouble pulling the codes. When you pull trouble codes in a 95, do you have to press any buttons on the dash to get it to go into "trouble code" mode, or do you just plug the scanner in? I was reading that in the Cadillacs, you need to press the 'OFF' and 'WARMER' buttons to get in this mode, but I couldn't find any info about the Auroras.

As I understand it the Aurora didn't have these functions in the dash buttons

just to be sure, you do know that your car is OBDI and not OBDII right? you have the OBDII connector but the PCM still speaks the OBDI language..

Well, remembering that I read couple weeks ago somewhere about how to do this on classic. Was sure I bookmarked or printed it out for myself … obviously NOT… as I cant find it anywhere. But it was exactly about classic aurora and via temp buttons… even almost remember sites design ;D it was kinda brownish, lighter and darker combined … think main talk was about indy engines … now writing it – I think it was on site someone put on V2 forum in indy-engine thread, so there’s no way back?

All the Aurora threads I've read....there's no easy way for these 95's. You gotta buy the Actron code scanner with the GM cartridge and the special GM cable....There is no other way....

Well if it is a OBD1 system you "should" be able to jump two terminals on the connector and get the check engine light to flash the code. At least I know almost every GM OBD1 system worked that way, just need to find the right connections.

I appreciate the help, but the connector on my car doesn't have pins 5 and 6 -- just pin 5. So the corvettes must be a bit different. Accoriding to the underhood sticker it is an OBDI car though. I ordered a cable and I tried to hook it up to my laptop the other day using the EFILive software. I managed to read the "chatter" that the computer was producing, but I couldn't seem to get the computer to respond to the commands I was issuing to pull the codes. If I ever do get it working I'll post it here for any other lucky 95' owners. I just wish I knew the guy at GM who had the bright idea to switch the connectors over in 95, but not the PCM. I'd love to write him a lovely letter thanking him.

Are you sure you don't have pins 5 and 6? I have done some digging and evey bit of info I can find lists most GM's before 96 using the OBD1 computer with a OBD2 connector, and to jump pins 5 and 6 to get the codes to flash. Could you possibly take a picture of the connector for us.
