Alright you Aurora gurus, help me out. How do you know if an Aurora has a Bose system in it? Will it have a multi CD changer as standard equipment? Will the head unit actually have the Bose name on it? Or are there other defining characteristics a person should be looking for? Input breathlessly anticipated.

Yes, the headunit will actually say "Bose" on it. You could also check the build sheet in the trunk, though I'm not sure what the Bose radio code was on classics.

Look at your RPO codes (under the spare tire cover in the trunk) for the codes mentioned here: My RPO list gives 2 options for the audio system. UP0 and U1F, and 2 different RPO's for the number of speakers, UW6 which is 6 speakers and U97 which is 7 speakers. If you have the Bose system you should find U1F and U97 on the RPO list, and U1S if you have the CD changer in the trunk. As far as I can see there were only two options for speakers, the Bose has two in the rear doors and a sub woofer on the parcel shelf while the normal set up has two on the parcel shelf and none in the rear doors. Both options should have two speakers in each front door. My book doesn't list UX7 or U98. Maybe the options changed from year to year?

Look for the AMP, the Bose system has a Bose amp for the speakers.

if any 2nd gen owners were curious about if they had BOSE, the way to tell easily is if there are 5.25" midrange speakers in the rear doors then it's bose. also, there will be an amp behind the black plastic cover in the trunk (behind the back seat) and the cd player will say BOSE on it.

Yea, everyone is correct and Bose will be printed on the Cassette Door. The amp will be hung off the rear deck on the left side and a monster 6.5" subwoofer will be on the right, the bottom of it exposed and attached to a rather large molded enclosure.
The 12-disc changer was a stand-alone option that was often selected with Bose. Though on mine, (I think this was a 95/95 think only) it took away the single CD slot in the dash. So, it some what takes away practically, but there is 12 slots as opposed to one..

Do you have the Bose Matt? No but I have a friend who is looking to get an Aurora and he's digging for as much info as he can get before going shopping.
