how do the subs sound hooked up to the factory CD player? awesome. my car pounds pretty hard for having so low grade equipment. i had this same stuff in my Exlorer and had it wired wrong so i wasnt getting a lot of bass out of my subs but when i got my Aurora i just moved the system to it and my brother in law helped me wire it and it hits crazy hard. right now i just have 2 12" Sony Explode's hooked up to a Kenwood 600 watt amp. but im going to get all JL Audio when everything else is done on my car.

right now i just have 2 12" Sony Explode's hooked up to a Kenwood 600 watt amp. Watch out! .... (Just razz'en your set-up a bit) The Bose system is pretty decent. The problem is with age the external amplifier starts to f'up. And it isn't cheap to repair (I paid $335 for a rebuild on mine at carstereohelp.com). I thought it was pretty cool that it actually has a subwoofer built in (all be it a tiny 6 1/2"). Also what a mjaor PITA it was to remove. Lets just say, I resorted to Saw's All.

My JL's will be killing em once I focus on the set up but right now im hitting harder then my brother in laws Caddy with 2 amps and 3 10's. so im not worried about that. so you wont see me turning down my system when i hear someone coming up. i get the heads turning. ;D

oh btw, i noticed your a Kicker fan. whats your set-up? my other brother-in-law has two Kicker amps and 3 15's right now. he has the box custom made and the amps havent been mounted yet but his Trailblazer is going to be hitten hard when finishes the install. i dont really care for the look of Kicker even though they do hit hard.

Any specific choices yet? Or just set on JL? Just doing subs or everything?

Any specific choices yet? Or just set on JL? Just doing subs or everything? going to try 3 12's of this JL Audio 12" W7 Sub 3Ohm Dual Voice Coil for $749 a pop. I have a friend that has these in his Expediation and they are so F'in loud its unbelievable. but i want a custom box to look flush so i will be putting in a lot of money into it. sticking with JL for the amp too. then maybe Fosgates for the front and rears but not too focused on that. these are the 10's so will be bigger. i like the clean look of them.

My current set-up is a Kicker KX1200.1 amp powering 2 Comp VR 15 inches. It's ridiculous. I could blow the back window on demand. Kicker is a pretty good company. They always underrate their stuff for competitions and stuff. Each amp comes with a "birth sheet." Mine had a maxiumun output of 1450 watts at 4 ohms. But I have mine running at 1 ohm with 0 gauge wiring and 8 gauge for the sub wire, in a sealed box. I know a ported would be better, but I'm limited by the strength of the rear windows and roof. Definitely a company to consider.
If you want loudness, consider 15" remember there's no replacement for displacement.

hey betonthis1, hope you'll get the radio tomorrow. i can tell you what it played for me. most of my cds are burned. All of them are CD-Rs...never tried RWs. All of them play, and mostly fine. I've had the unit for about 8 months and played cds a lot. I did get the error code twice in those 8 months. Which doesn't sound too bad to me. Hope you'll enjoy it bro. hey got the radio today. awesome dude. now my car is starting to look like something other then ghetto with all the button paint rubbed off. yeah its perfect and playing CD-R's great. also your CD loader is much faster and quieter then my old one. thanks for the save bro.

I know I'm way behind on this, but... My stock head unit plays CD-Rs fine. Actually that's ALL it plays now, since it also has problems ejecting and scratches up my CD's I don't put any original albums in it (only copies). If anyone has anymore stock head units around collecting dust, let me know. Re: stock system quality, mine sounds better than the stock system that was in my '98 Bonneville... but certainly could use some acoustic improvements.
