"Hi. Hope you can help me here. I hit a pot hole with my front pasenger side tire which gave the car a good jolt. I was about 2min from home and the car gave me no apparant problems. The following day when I left all was fine until I tried to turn left. I can finger turn to the right and back to center but I have to put two arms into it to turn left. Its also quite stiff from left back to center. Any ideas?"
From Terry.

Tell Terry she needs to get it to a shop asap. That is a big safety issue.

Is there any more info I can include besides telling her/(or him?) it's a big safety issue, like what are some of the things that could cause it to respond like that? Thanks for the quick response Omegaic

Something's broke.
Ok, seriously, we could go into all the stuff that may be wrong, but it is most certainly nothing simple and easy to fix for the average person. Typically this situation would be something in the tie rods or steering rack, could be CV joint locking up, shock tower binding, wheel bearing locking up, etc. In any case, three things we know. One, you won't know what is wrong without examining the front suspension and steering systems. Two, this could become a VERY DANGEROUS problem. Three, it will most likely need a repair shop to fix it. Even if you could fix it yourself, you'll need an allignment from the shop. Have the girl go to the shop ASAP!
So again, Something's broke!

I would not worry, sounds to me like the left tierod got bent on the left side, cheap & easy replace (on most cars) but will absolutely need alignment done afterwards.
EDIT: You can be almost certain that it is indeed the tierod if truning gets easier and less numb as you pick up speed. Hope this helps

kobalt, I thought tie rod first as well. However could be snapped at the bushing, something I've seen b4. Also Terry hit the passenger side wheel in the pothole. Easy to fix for an ace mechanic like you, not so easy for someone who e-mails a question to Amanda. Remember to consider the source.

Letitroll98 - me ace mechanic? LOL! You humble me!
Judging from the circumstances of the email and up-close inspection of Aurora suspension, I doubt the bushing would brake. But I guess you never know...
