whenever i pull to a stop or am slowing down i hear this cachunk-cachunk-cachunk sound and you can hear it clear from the outside too. its both annoying and embarrasing and the shop couldnt find anything the last time. i dont know what to look for??? if its my freaking ball joints or ty rods i dunno. any body else here know what im talking about?

Start with your CV boot, its the rubber springy looking thing at the end of the axle shaft. I torn CV would make a sound like that.

CV boots can be spendy, however once its torn the damage is done, road debris, grime etc gets in there...once you replace the boot and close it off, the crap is still in there.
Replacing the axle shaft is recommended and only costs a wee bit more then just replacing the boot itself. Labour is easier too.
Btw: 10 years out of a rubber CV boot isnt to bad, it went on my Bonneville after 12 years, they seem to last about 100 000 miles or 10 years whatever comes first.

Did you check to see if it WAS the CV boot..I was only suggesting something to try and diagnose the noise you said you had

yes i did by my self but the shop is going to look it over today. what i saw was the upper left outer was leaking a little grease onto the shocks and engine mount.

Constant velocity joint boots are tightly packed with grease duirng assembly. Some grease leaking is normal over the years and does not necessairly mean the boot is torn.

if the grease is leaking thats not normal , maybe you just need a new ring around the boot , ive never heard of that being normal, and check the dust cover around the brake somtimes it touches the rotor

In that case you heard it here first: a bit of grease around the cv boot seal is normal. Look at any 10 year old car cv boot to see what I mean.

well guess what if thats it, this cars gone and i wont be around anymore. tired of putting so much into this car. 4000 in repairs and not 1 dollar into performance. trust me I know how you feel. My 97 Riviera was the same way. in 2 years I spent $4,000 in repairs and didn't want to do it anymore. You just have to remember though that you're driving a near luxury car that cost $32,000 brand new. Every repair and every part is going to reflect that. Even if you keep making repairs you're going to save money than tryin to sell it.. I bought my Riv 2 years ago for 5,500 and after interest it was around 6,400. after 4,000 in repairs that's now a 10,000+ investment.. Then I sold the car this weekend for $3,900! That's over $6,000 that I lost. I definately know how you feel, but financially, you're best off to hold onto it since you've already put so much into it.

Hey I see everybody here mentioning that it might be the CV boot or joint, from what you said, I think you have warpped rotors, my Aurora is doing the same thing, a clicking noise when I slow down or come to a stop at a light. I don't hear the noise when turning though, if you hear the noise when you turn, then it's for sure the boot, but if your saying that when you come to a stop, it's got to be warpped rotors.
I'm getting my disc rotors cut in a few days and I'll let you know if that worked for me.
You can get your brake disc rotors cut from like $8.00 bucks at any Murrays or auto shop, that's where I'm going.

true. from his description I took it as it made the sound whenever he slowed down, not just when he applied the brakes. I might have missunderstood though. If it is the rotors you will feel a pulsation/vibration as you stop. The braking will not be smooth. I don't know if warped rotors would cause a sound though besides squealing when you slow down.

The sound will be there, it's more like a clicking noise, but you can definitely hear it, I'm getting my rotors fixed this weekend.

Well it wasnt the rotors..shop said they are fine, for now. In june before i go to carsisle they recommend i replace them. Im sure there will be a bunch of other crap gonna go by then too cause thats when the stickers expire.
However i have a box of Brembo OEM Replacement Rotors sitting here in its box. I bought them for 74 dollars for the fronts (pair) because they were gonna get me them for 91 dollars. Save money wherever i can...ya know. When the time comes i will just pay for labor.
Thanks all for your help. The noise is still there but its not AS bad, after i got the tires balanced. They were whacked they said lol
