My passenger side door panel has developed a very annoying squeak to it. Every little bump you hit the door panel emits a squeak very close to the sound of a mouse. lol. It's really annoying that's for sure. Anyone else have this squeak and if so what's the fix? If you lightly pull on the door handle back and forth you can hear the squeak. I am going to assume that the door panels are held held on with plastic push clips, and in the handle area there are metal clips? Is there a lubrication that you're supposed to do to these clips so they won't squeak?

Apart from changing all the clips.. Do you have a good sound system?

Apart from changing all the clips.. Do you have a good sound system? nope. it's all stock. I need to upgrade it though the stock sound system leaves a lot to be desired. I can't wait to get some good Infinities in there. If it atleast had the bose I would consider keeping it but the delco sound system is just.... yeah. lol. I wouldn't expect anything more from speakers that cost $25 from GM.

My 2nd gen had a slight squeak in the driver's door. I thought it was the panel itself but turned out to be the speaker cover. Give it a tap and see if it squeaks - I was able to take it off and bend the clips for a tighter, squeak free fit.

Did you remove the door panel, or did you just take the grille off? If so, how do you remove the grille, and also, can the front speakers be removed without taking the door panel off? I tried to see if the grilles were removable but I didn't want to risk breaking anything.. they did not want to budge at all and I wasn't about to force them. Thanks!

I took the door panel off but don't think it's needed. The grille should pry right off from the outside. Its quite flexible and shuld not break easiely. Save yourself the work and give the speaker grille a tap to see if it squeaks beforehand Good luck!

Hey Custom 88. I'm rather new to this board and have been reading posts for months. I'm glad to be here. I know it's an old post.... My '02 had developed a squeak in the door panel (passenger side) as well. It was annoying just like a mouse as you described. I thought it was my speaker cover or something just loose in the panel. Being as ignorant as assuming the speaker grille just pops off (IT DOESN'T by the way! I found out the hard way and got a double whammy by prying it off. It broke in half and all the force exerted caused me to slice my hand on the sharp edged freshly broken speaker grille). Anyway, I took another route and popped the panel off and it turned out to be a loose bolt and screw in the lower right part of the door. I jiggled it and it replicated the sound that just got on my last nerve. I tightened it very tightly and haven't heard a peep since. Of course I ordered a new speaker grille ($30.00). There are 4 rivet like screws holding them in place from the inside of the door panel. It would have never come off from prying it. That sound was very annoying. Hope that was all it was for you too.

Thanks for the post. I really appreciate it! I haven't had a chance to remedy the problem yet. I was waiting until the day I put in some new front speakers. The front speakers (stock) rattle the door pretty bad too so I need to put some sound deadener on the door panel and inner skin of the door. I'm glad I didn't try prying on the grille any harder than I did. I was thinking they weren't going to come off so I stopped prying. I'll definately check the area you mentioned though. Thanks again!

I'm a member of the door squeak club as well. It's on the passenger side and it is the door cover rubbing against the pillar column. For some reason there isn't enough clearance and you get plastic ribbing on plastic. I haven't found a solution, yet, but it drives me nuts. I might try removing the passenger door cover and putting it back on, only pushing toward the front of the car while tightening it down to see if I can increase the clearance and get rid of the squeak.

My '99 has it; driver's side. If I push in on the door panel with my arm and hold it tight, the squeak goes away. Otherwise it's subtle but noticeable when driving over bumps.
