According to the 2001 shop manual, that's the entire pump. Also, see that the inlet & outlet hoses are in good shape. ________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

You are better off buying the pump locally instead of sending for it. In case the new one is bad (rare, but it can happen) you can exchange it immediately. The air injection valve is mounted separately from the pump. _________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

please forgive my ignorance but what is this air injection pump? Is it a common part to fail?

I believe it injects air into the catalytic convertor to help it warm up faster. I think it helps leftover hydrocarbons to burn off. Or something like that. I'm obviously not the expert.

It mixes air with the exhaust to reduce pollutant levels.
