Got into my wifes 3.5 Aurora last night, started driving and noticed a pretty pronounced sluggishness. This car has new air filter, pcv, and fuel filter. I drove it last week and it was fine. She said she has been buying gas from Kroger (local food chain) instead of Mobil or Sunoco. The car is running fine, just sluggish. Do you guys think its the gas, or could it be something else?

your AC wasn't on was it? mine's a dog with it. Bad gas is a possible cause for the slugishness. Something odd I notice with my Aurora is some days it feels really quick, then other days it feels quite slow. I don't know what's up with that, but I do notice it. How hot and humid was it? That has a big effect on power output as well.

The weather could be a factor in the performance as the computer takes that information in to "Plot out its plan" for the engine.

Figure on about a 10% loss in HP with the A/C on. With bad gas, there'll be surging & hesitation.

Yup, those compressors put a drag on the engine.

A little off-topic, but recently there was a "scandal" at a local Pilot station because one of the gasoline delivery trucks pumped diesel into the Regular Unleaded tanks, and the station chain now has to pay for repairs to quite a few cars. It's right off I-64 at the Nitro, WV, exit, and the mistake went three days before people started showing up to enquire about why their cars were having so much trouble running correctly. Hopefully Kroger didn't get something that big wrong!

The a/c was on, but it doesn't really drag the car down that much. It was almost 98 degrees and very humid though. Will run some Techron through it this weekend and some good gas and see what happens

By the way, did somebody fill the car with regular grade gas? Or, is the gas old? Either will surely cause performance loss.

Used a bottle of Chevron Techron and filled it up with Mobil. Running great again! ;D
