My girlfreind just purchased an '02 3.5 with 41k on it. She took it in to Lund Cadillac to have a couple issues fixed, this is not where car was purchased. Anyway, They call up and say one of the motor mounts is blown (?), and a lower casing oil seal is leaking. The Service Tech says the oil seal is common, also on some Cad's, the motor mount who knows. Wouldn't or shouldn't this be covered by warranty. The sales dealer won't repair as of yet, and I Cad says NO!. Perhaps someone knows who or where I can go to raise Hell about this with GM.
Thank You

Is the car under the GMPP warranty still? It's possible the original owner forfeited this for $1000 back, otherwise it would fall under the 5 years/60,000 mile warranty. You should deal with the place that sold it to you, though, as they should be responsible for repairing it.
The oil seal is not common. It was not uncommon on Northstars and Aurora V8's but only the early ones.

I would definitely take this up with the dealership that sold the car to you. Did they sell it completely "As Is" or with any kind of guarantee? You'll want to act quickly for best results... if you drive the car for awhile before reporting any problems to them, they'll probably claim that the condition didn't occur until after you bought it. Let us know what you find out.

She bought it last wednesday on 12/21/2005. I looked at her contract, no mention of as-is or extended warranty denied clauses. She is really stressed over this, and her dealer won't talk to me as I am not even mentioned on the paperwork. I thought Gen I's were better styled as they had Individuality, But so far the Gen II 3.5 performance wise has me impressed, Now if only she'd let me borrow it for a couple hundred mles, I'd be happy. Thanks for the tips, I'll keep ya updated.

Update: Earnhardt Ford in Chandler has agreed to fix these 2 issues. We drop it off on 01/11 and they've authorized a rental at their expense. Not sure what a ballpark estimate for this work would be, but with the $1000 worth of electrical on it, They oughta just give it to her. Originally: 17,599 Final Price: 13,000 Electrical:1,000 This work: ? Man, this dealer can't be makin much. Ed

Well, Much to my amazement, Earnhardt Ford made good on their word. Both issues repaired, No charge, fiancee is overjoyed, and I am stunned! I have dealt with many dealers, new and used, and have never seen such no hassle resolutions. All I can say is, un-believable!

I like happy endings. Any relation to the NASCAR Earnhardt's?
