No, I'm not a fan of Vanilla Ice, at least, not anymore... ;D nor am I a fan of 1/2" thick slabs of frozen water in my trunk - which is what i found last night after reading a post on this forum regarding such.
So my obvious question to you all is this....what are the possible causes/leakage areas?? Trunk seal, design flaw? This car's not amphibious, is it??
I had to laugh too cause once I pulled up the carpeting I realized that the previous owner tried in vain to silicone just about every joint visible! brown goo everywhere.

4 liter or 3.5? The 3.5's two-piece trunk lid leaks around the license plate area. Incidentally, I had a snow scene in the driver's door map holder. The car's been sitting for the last two months, and the snow scene froze and cracked. Now I've got odd snowscene liquid all frozen together at the bottom... nothing I can do till spring

3.5L. Licence plate area? Is there a fix for that?
Why would the 4.0 and 3.5 has different trunk lids, of all things?

For the 4.0L they wanted to reach a lower weight (I think because of the heavier engine/transmission/etc?).
So they trimmed the size of the gas tank, gave it an aluminum one-piece trunk lid, and some other things I think... The two-piece lid is steel, though it sure doesn't feel like it. Still feels very light and bouncy.
Though in the 2003, did the 4.0L have the two piece trunk lid as well?
I think Kobalt fixed his back when he had the 3.5L. I'm not sure what he did, but it's a bit of a lengthy fix.

I would hope the location of this thread would answer that question...

I'm SO sorry. Will you accept a letter of apology? I was just trying to help this guy to the best of my knowledge/experience... Forgive me times a million, that I missed one tenths of the contents of a title of a folder that a thread was in.

By the way, I looked it up after I posted a few hours ago today. The 4 liter 2003s did have the two-piece trunk lid, just like the 3.5 liter 2001-2002 (3.5 wasn't available on the ~7000 production models of the 2003). So I guess those leak, too.

Badly designed trunk lid that affects all 3.5l models and all 2003 models.

I took off the trunk lid liner and siliconed the four license plate frame attachment bolts. That did the trick!
