This little doodad, tied up in a knot, I noticed last night taking some photos. I'll have a closer look at it later on to see where it's coming from and where it's going to. Any ideas of the top of your heads??

A rat's nest? I mean...what is a rat's nest, Alex?
No idea. Sorry. Is it an electrical splice? The orange looks like Romex household electrical wiring.

This little doodad, tied up in a knot, I noticed last night taking some photos. I'll have a closer look at it later on to see where it's coming from and where it's going to. Any ideas of the top of your heads?? Lowgear, that twisted up cord is the electrical cord for the engine block heater. The orange is the shielding for the wiring leading the heating element. There are two elements, one on either side of the engine block. If you undo the black cord and uncap the electrical plug cover, you can plug it into your household electrical socket and turn on the heaters to keep your engine warm and reduce warmup time and wear and tear on your engine in the winter. When ready to drive your car, just unplug it, wrap the cord back into place, and cap the plug. Very simple and useful. I believe that all 2nd Generation Auroras built for Canada have the engine block heater and heated seats as standard equipment, for obvious reasons. Hope this helps! skexius

You know what Skexius, I think you're right. This car began life in Ottawa, further north and slightly snowier than where it is now and I wouldn't be surprised is thats exactly what it is. Good job!

Yes, indeed! All cars built for use in Canada have to have engine block heaters. Most of the country doesnt get balmy winters like we do in the Golden Horseshoe eh Lowgear?

Cool option to have.
No joke, it's been ridiculous in Southern Ontario hasn't it Jim. It's as mild as I can remember a winter being. I lived in Winnipeg as a kid and thats the last time I remember seeing people plug their cars in at night. Now those folks know how to have a winter. None of this rain one day, snow the next day crap! They have snow - and lots of it - for 6 months.
