On my 2002 I just noticed a small horizontal crack on the trim piece around the DIC/HVAC/Radio panel. This crack is on the right side about midway where the trim is the thinnest. The vehicle still has a few days left on the warranty. Do you think the trim would be covered? Have no idea how it got cracked, but did notice that it sticks out ever so slightly on the lower right corner.

It probably should be, unless you cracked it by punching it or something. The wood pieces are fairly expensive, so hurry up and get to the dealer!

I think it is definitely covered. I had one of my lower sections replaced recently under warranty but like 40 said, it can't be from abuse.

I actually don't know how the crack got there. It might have been caused when I gently tried pushing in on the bottom right corner to try to get the trim flush with the mating piece. Did not push hard at all. Might have been there before, but can't say for certain.
The dealer will probably think I'm nitpicking, because the crack is almost inconspicuous, but I know it's there, and it bugs me. Guess it can't hurt to inquire.
