I remember reading this somewhere i can't remember the answer that was given. When I did my 100k plug and wire change #2 had oil around the plug between the threads and the ceramic. the electrode was dry. Anybody run into this? Thanks Skeeter 95

Yes, today actually, the chamber where the boot on the plug wire sits in the valve cover area was full of oil.
It happens when the rubber seal gives out.
Check the Spring tune up thread...last 6 posts or so. We go back and forth in there.

How much oil was it? I don't think a film of oil on the first threads would necessarily be indicitive of a problem, as I'd expect over time a slight bit will get pushed up there and it's unlikely to burn off or anything.
I've seen oil on the first threads of spark plugs before and never really thought much of it. Probably depends on what you are really seeing. A pool of oil isn't normal.

It wasn't really on the threads. It was on the hex head and the lower part of the ceramic. I think Jim got it on his other thread. I am not going to worry about it, unless I see leakage on the cover or on the ground
