I had my oil changed for the 1st time today since I bought my Aurora. It was expensive compared to how much it cost me with the Riviera. Apparently the 3.5 uses a rare cartridge-type oil filter that doesn't fit very many other vehicles. The oil filter was $7 alone whereas the filter for the 3800 was only around $2.50! Also, the 3.5 required 2 extra quarts of oil more than the basic price cost. OIl change for the Riviera came to a total of $15... Aurora.. $23! Just came as a shock. I wasn't expecting that.

You might try buying the cartridge filter on your own. I don't think they are that expensive normally. I believe they are supposed to be cheaper due to not needing a case, etc. The extra oil is partly because it is an overhead cam engine vs the 3800. More oil gets retained in the heads, so you need more capacity to make sure there's enough. Also, I believe the Premium V8 can handle some serious lateral g's without starving the oil pump, which is a plus if you ever need that functionality. over 70 dollars here for mobil 1. Post up a receipt! ;D

I would if i had the job sheet for that. I think its in the tax file. Anyway since the Mobil 1 i put in before the Auto-rx and had drained out was going to be sitting around for months and months before i ever put 3000 more miles on my car for Auto-rx, i decided to let a person around here have it for $50, since it was already used Still though, i would rather have fresh oil in my car anyway thans omething that was sitting in an Oil Container for 6 or 7 months.
