Ever notice how the interior lights on the Aurora burn out quickly compared to many other cars? I think I know why now. The dash lights are always on. Even when it's a bright and sunny day the backlights are on for the entire interior. What is the point? You can't see them or anything. I have my headlight knob turned to off, foglight switch on off, still the interior lights are on. (instrument backlights, not the interior lights that open with the doors.) I know they're on because all the controls get hot/warm from the lights being on. Is there anyway to set them to turn off during the day? I know my Riviera had an option called "parade" lighting where the interior lights were on full brightness during the day. you could turn that option off, but on the aurora I'm not finding a way to turn it off..
One other thing too, no matter how bright it is, if I switch my headlamps to off I always get the "headlights suggested" message on the DIC. I really see no point to have the headlights always on if it's a sunny day outside. any ideas?

I'm pretty sure my dash lights turn off when the lights are off. This is especially noticeable when driving from sunlight into say a garage. They are off until the headlights flip on. You don't have the light sensor on the dash covered, do you?
The headlight suggested thing will go off if you set it to "auto". You won't have your headlights on during the day with this setting unless your light sensor or something isn't working properly.

is it because you have daytime running lights??
i dont think my interior lights are always on...hmm. Either way whether dark or what, i have the knob all the way dim, to save the lights.

Everytime I switch teh lights to off no matter how light it is outside I always get the "headlamps suggested" message. however, during the day the headlamps are not on if I set it to auto, the daytime running lights are on so that would mean the sensor should be fine.

My interior lights are not always on in my 2001.. I know this for sure Certain things are always on - like the mileage/trip readout, temperature readout, time in the radio, LEDs in the OnStar, and other miscellany.
