i just tried leaving my shifter in 2nd gear the other day to see how different it shifts and wow, the 1st-2nd is like if i was drivin' a manual, it was so much quicker (it actually even chirped the tires;D). i wish i would've known this when i was at the track.

Other GM automatics do the same thing, for some reason. (I'd like to find out why). The TH-400 in the 1972 442 that I had before the Aurora also did the exact same thing when left in "Super" (2nd on that trans). __________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

On the TH-400, 1st was Low, 2nd was Super & 3rd was Drive. We had a 1975 Cutlas with the Rocket 350/ TH-350 Turbo transmission that was setup the same way. I miss that car.

2nd gear driving is great fun, uber hard on zee ol 4T80E, but its nice to wind up the car sometimes. Try this If you have AutoTap, bring a laptop into your car, plug it into your OBD2 port. Put the car in 2nd gear, TC off....accel slowly feel the car shift from 1st to 2nd, once that shift happens, introduce the pedal to the floor. You will find at redline the car will hold 2nd gear til the tranny/computer forces a change into 3rd gear. AutoTap does all its calculating at that 2-3 switch. I bet Todd and I will be doing that next weekend in his 12 second Bonneville and my Aurora ;D Hey BC members..the MI meet guys dont know Rogue/8Ball are going so..shhhhh

On the TH-400, 1st was Low, 2nd was Super & 3rd was Drive. Funny, that's what the trans is labeled on my '69 Executive, and I always thought the "S" meant "Second"!
