hi all; I have a 2001 4.0 model and have found that in the last couple oil changes I am consistently losing oil, other than from a visible leak. It varies between 1 and 2 litres per 1000 Kms. Most of my driving is on the highway at speeds above 65 mph and as a new Aurora owner, I have been following the book by using 5w30 Castrol GTX which I change at 5000 kilometer intervals religiously. I am not sure if I am burning oil or it is simply blowing through the system as my pipes are clean and as I said, there are no visible leaks/puddles to be seen. I have not as yet approached my mechanic to do any diagnosis per se but I am becoming quite concerned as in every other respect I love this car, the way it handles and the comfort within it. Anyone who has had similar concerns or who knows a good diagnostic technique, please feel frre to contact me at marvinrhind@rogers .com and I will be happy for any input received. Thank you and have a great day.

To be sure that no oil is getting into the combustion chamber, get a spark plug out and check for oil burning. This will show up as a black pasty deposit on the electrodes. Check to see that the oil filter is tight & that the oil filter gasket & base are not damaged. This might not leak with the engine turned off. Idle it for a few minutes & check for leakage there. And also while doing that, check over the whole engine for leaks. Sometimes a very small leak will not show up when the engine is not running.
