The tic tic tic sounds like your battery is low.

the tic tic sound is the anti theft system not allowing your car to start. did you try closing the car up and locking it with the key fob and then unlocking it again and trying to start it? it sounds to me like the car is doing exactly what its supposed to do if it isnt unlocked correctly.

well my client picked me up after i was late, so no biggie. The fan blows hard so the battery is fine. This is definitely the antitheft, and my obd2 sensor doesn't register when i try to use it while it's in this mode. I'll check the door locks and such next time try it. The car did unlock itself at odd times when i was trying to start it, so that might be it. I am surprized though that there is little to nothing online about this problem, but my big shop manuals has an extencive section about the theft system so that might help if all else fails.

sounds like maybe a bad ignition switch to me, or PCM.

sounds like maybe a bad ignition switch to me, or PCM. shouldnt be, because of the fact that it recognizes something and flashes "Theft System..."

Try the other set of keys that the car came with. It could be the fob or key is faulty. Otherwise, there is definitely something screwy going on.

I only got one key with the car...Maybe it's worth a trip to the dealer to get a new key/remote. I wonder if I can just disable the stupid security system, perhaps it has always been faulty.
Tried again checking all the locks and still nothing...oddly though the info screen warns me that the trunk is ajar, but it isn't, so I get out and slam it 3 times and still nothing, ugh.

Found the problem! Turns out it really was a low battery. I was convinced that it wasn't because earlier either my fincee or myself would leave the dome light or headlights on overnight and the car would turn them off and it'd start up fine, but I guess that doesn't apply to the trunk light that for some reason didn't turn off despite the trunk being snugly shut.

Your wallet can thank everything that's holy!! That's good news. Check the trunk latch and the switch for the light to see that they work correctly so this does not happen to you again. Also, get another key, if you damage yours, you'll be walking to the dealer to get a new one.

That's what it sounded like to me, with the whacked out electronics and the ticking. Usually if there isn't enough juice to turn the starter, it will tick. Glad it was an easy fix.
