Hows it going well some might remeber about 6 months ago my car was in an accident, the day after i bought it. well ever since then quite a bit of things have been going wrong. First was normal maintanace and oil pressure switch need to be changed now i have leaky valve covers and my intermidiate steering shaft is popping like crazy. well the other day when i was at the bank someone backed into my car. and damaged the front fender. so now i am starting to rethink the darn car. Its costing me $160 for the valve cover gaskets, im guessing 500 for steering shaft and another 500 for the fender. I need to know if all these are bad signs for a car that has 71000 miles on her ive had the oil changed, trans fluid changed engine coolant changed now i need all that and more belts need to be changed brakes o2 sensors and can anyone tell me what else. I love the car but i dont know if its worth all this trouble. p.s. can anyone tell me what performance mods can be made to the car. I have seen that aurora 40 had a high 14 sec car in the 1/4 mile how can i achive this or better?

Some cars are seem to just bring bad luck with them. My brother had similar experience with his old car (01 VW GTI VR6). He had it for a total of 8 months. In which, he had to replace most of the electrical engine stuff, plugs, wires, MAF. etc. Plowed into a curb, damaging the lower front fascia, most of the r/f suspension, and his 1hr. old rims. Finally totaled it one night cresting an overpass, stop cars in front of us. Nothing much to do.
About you're car, it seems that once you get pass that initial on-slot of repairs, the car will shine through. All those issues commonplace too, so I wouldn't worry to much. More belts, how many do ya got? All that later stuff seems to be routine maintenance, even at 71,000 miles.

Well, maybe take a minute and think about what you like about the car. I mean, oil, coolant, trans fluid, and brake changes? What car do you envision buying that won't need those, or can't be damaged by being hit by another car? But if you aren't happy, you aren't happy, and better to move on than to be unhappy. It sounds like once you fix the things that need fixing like you might have a nice car, though.

Oldsg.....Aurora40's 2002 4.0 ran a 14.858 after 2 mods that I remember. He added a Corsa exhaust & a K&N air filter. He also turned off the traction control & left the shifter in second for that run. He may have also made a few other small changes, but you'd have to ask him.

Regarding your O2 sensors, they should still have some life left in them, they are warranteed for 8 years/160 kms (100k miles) in the U.S. if I'm not mistaken. Regarding the brake job and belts, what do you expect of a 70 000mile car? Whatever you are going to get, it's going to need routine maintenance. If you don't want to spend the money on the Intermediate Steering Shaft, you can get the lube kit from the dealer and do it yourself, it's a temporary fix but better than nothing to save a few dollars. As for the fender, it's not your fault. Get this stuff done and you should be good to go for quite a few miles. BUT, if you think your car is cursed, then get rid of it and pick up another Aurora that is similar to yours (yes I'm biased) and continue along.
My 2 cents.

Consumer Reports can recommend some cars with reliability. Soul & character are not part of their ratings system. Is zoom zoom?
