Is there any way to turn off the Auto Head lights with windshield wipers on. Because if you have the Rain Sense wipers turned on then the headlight always stay on unless the headlight control is turned from Auto to Off. It would be great if I could my Auto Lights on with the Auto Wipers. Adam '01 Aurora V8 4.0L

The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL's) most likely stay on anytime the car is in gear, regardless of the settings of the Twilight Sentinel or Rain-Sensing Wipers. DRL's can be disabled on the 95-99 Auroras easily enough ( see this thread), but I'm not sure about the 2nd-gens. Anyone know?

I believe you can turn off the auto-headlights by turning the headlights manually to "off". However, the better way is just to turn your wipers off when it isn't raining. I'm always worried something will hit the windshield near the sensor, and it'll flip the wipers on and scratch the glass up. The Nissan has had wiper-induced scratches since my wife first bought it, and there are few things more annoying... It looks like someone poured sand on the windshield and then ran the wipers for an hour. So I very much want to avoid that on the other cars... If you want to have the headlights on auto and the wipers on all the time, then no, I don't think you can get the car to only turn the lights on when there's rain on the windshield or it's dark out. You'll either have to live with having your headlights on all the time, or live with having to turn something on when it rains or when it gets dark.

dumb question but how exactly do the auto wipers work, as in, how do you turn them on? The build sheet for my car says I have them but I haven't noticed anything different than any other car in the way the wipers work. (I haven't seen them come on by themselves.)

When you turn them to intermittent, the delay is controlled by the sensor. When they are off or on/high they work like normal wipers. When on rain-sense, the "delay" knob controls the sensitivity instead. If the rain is very steady, you really won't notice much. But you should see them react when the rain stops or gets harder or lighter.

You will have to leave the wipers on intermittent all the time to have the wipers turn on automatically. I also would like to know--where are the 'sensors?'

the sensor is behind the rear view mirror. It's right on the center of the windsheild.

I do believe that you can't turn off the headlights when you have the Auto Wipers engaged. It's a visibility/safety thing. If you are using your windshield wipers, you should have your headlights on, this just does it automatically. Remember Driver's Ed. lads.

In NJ, it's a state law that you have to have your headlights on if it's raining, so in the past I just left mine on. Unfortunately I had have my windshield replaced about a year ago and when they reinstalled the sensor it didn't work properly. In fact the crappy glue they used didn't last and the sensor wouldn't stay attached to the glass.

i may be mistaken...but i believe my headlights go off no problem with the auto wipers on, just by turning the indicator to off...

the only thing is that you constantly get the *ding ding ding* Headlights suggested warning on the DIC. That gets more annoying than turning the wipers on/off. atleast I think so.

Ah, but remember Dan... the Aurora is smarter than all of us put together! It KNOWS what we need and will inform us of such, regardless of our own preferences or desires...

Love the auto wipers. I guess this group doesn't use car washes but it could get interesting if they were left on auto.
Never taken my Aurora through a car wash.
