Been lurking here for a couple weeks since my son in college told me about this group. Got a '99 Black Aurora with about 83,000 m. on it. Been an enjoyable car which I'd wanted for a long time with only the usual problems. The multifunction sw./flashing headlights that I fixed with the sw. replacement. Now I've got the dreaded P0741, TCC slippage DTC and SES lt. I've got an OTC Genisys OBDII scanner and the slippage of the TCC is out of limits. I'm an airline electrician and have always tried to fix whatever has been wrong with my vehicles myself. This is going to be a tough one, however. Got a guy I work with here that has the engine support fixtures, and we're going to pull the trans. and rip into this problem hopefully next spring. I see where someone else has this evil malfunction also, so I'll try to post here in the maint. section every thing we find out about it. I've researched it already, and it will be an expensive repair even if Mike and I do it ourselves. And to the person that posted something to the effect that the bean counters killed the Aurora, I couldn't agree more. They're fine cars, even with these problems that crop up.

We look forward to hearing the solutions to your minor vehicle issues (as dreaded as they may be). A big welcome to the ACNA boards my friend.

Welcome gfulton! We will apreciate some professional advice on Aurora's multiple electrical gremlins. Be prepared for some IMs.
And hey! When are you going to lend your son the scratch for his own Aurora? Com'on Dad! (He's sending me comp tickets to UNC games for this plug)

Hey, this ain't my first rodeo. I can't even get those tickets from him_myself_. Ha. I do have the full factory manuals for a '99, and an alldatadiy subscription for the car. If there's any tech. information that the folks here would like me to pass on from those soureces, I'll be glad to.

Welcome aboard gfulton,
I also have a 1999 Black Aurora, non autobahn.
What options do you have on yours and what mods if any have you gotten?
We like to see some pictures of your Aurora, so if you get a chance, get some pictures up.

I bought ours as a used lease car with 19,000 on it a couple years ago. It has the autobahn package, Bose system, sunroof, heated seats, chrome wheels. My boys say the sound system is outstanding, but after 35 yrs. of working around jet engines, it's news to me. I put a black bra on the front end to keep the bugs from eroding the paint job. I've never really opened the thing up. But I understand the speed limiter on the autobahn cars is set for 145 mph. It sure has the power, but I believe that's a little optimistic. One thing I am very disappointed with on the car is the fact that the '99 does not have the engine oil cooler plumbed into the radiator. I believe the '98's were the last yr. for that. I notice my rad. fans cycling to high mode excessively on a hot day with the a/c on in traffic. A friend has a '98 Aurora at work with the engine oil cooler and I'd like to see how his car operates under the same conditions. Anyhow, I've always used synthetic oil for this reason along. More resistant to heat.

Welcome aboard gfulton, I forgot to mention that I'm putting together a Custom Indiglo Gauges pre-order for the Classic Aurora. You can find more detailed information at the website below. www.speedhut.com/15orders_el_detail.asp?auto_number=75&bhcp=1No one else in the web or internet has them available, so we in the pre-order would be the very first people to own a set of these gauges. Good to have you here. Thanks, Javi.
