Greetings from Keith. I live North West of Chicago, and drive alot for work. My 95 Aurora is the car I drive everyday. Currently, I have logged over 266,500 miles on this beast. It tends to burn about a quart of oil, every 1000 miles. I have some odd "clunks" from the front end when you turn with some force, but the mechanics can't find anything loose or ready to fall out. Maybe 180,000 miles is over the limit on front struts. Overall, this has been a great car. It stranded me once when the battery died after 7 or 8 years. The gas gauge has been problematic since the car was new... the dealer says it's fine, but why do I keep waiting for the wrecker with a quarter tank on the gauge? It must be me. I am wondering if there is anyone out there with more miles, or if I am the Kamikazee test pilot. I tend to baby the car in its "old age", but this is my work car... hope it just keeps on working. Good luck to all the other Aurora pilots out there.

That's good stuff!
My '03 is 19 months old and has 6,000 miles. At this rate it will take me 66 years to get that mileage!

Welcome Keith!
Suck a high mileage car is bound to have problem. Good thing is that they are problems that you can live with. I have a 97 and I drive it a lot. So far, I have not really had any major problems with it (besides the radiator). I do have the annoying vibrating power steering hose, but I have learned to live with it.

yeah, i think everyone has that vibrating power steering hose, from what i remember it was just because of a hose that just happened to be a certain length that causes that vibration, heh

Many owners, including me, have the gas gauge problem, some have changed the sender unit. Being Mr. el-cheepo , I reset the fuel used option on the DIC when I fill up and keep an eye on it.

That's what I like to hear! ;D A practical, frugal option to what would otherwise be an expensive and/or timely repair. Unfortunately for me, my '69 Executive does NOT have a "fuel used" indicator... and that is the car of mine in which the fuel gauge doesn't work. And hey there wutsit, welcome to the Club. It's good to see another Illinoisian in the bunch!
