Just thought I would say hi. Some of you may have seen my posts around here by now and I appoligize for not introducing myself before now.
I'm a member of a couple of other forums and find these great info about a certain make of vehicle (or other topics). My main time is spent at a S-Series forum (the Bravada is on a S-Series chassie) as the S-Series of truck has to be my favorite by far. I also spend time at a S-Series V-8 swap forum and a HID lighting forum, oh and a off road S-series forum. As you can tell I really like the S-series of trucks from GM. Most of my time is spent either working on vehicles, I do ALL of my own maintance, or trying to help others on the forums. Now you know my hobbies.
I joined here as I was thinking of the Aurora when the time came to trade my old truck in on somehting better (may be sooner than I though as the motor went out just today). Hopefully you guys can help me in making an informed decission about which Aurora to get, if I end up getting one.
I hope to learn as much as I can here, and I hope I can be of some help too.
Anyways, great site and keep it up.
BTW, what do you think of a 98 or 99 (I hear the best years for the classic) Aurora with near 100k on it? Say for about ~$7000, plus or minus. Wish I could afford the Gen2's, like the styling just a little better, but those are a little out of the price range right now.

Hi Snoman, all are welcome, come into the light. No offense to other model years, but if you find a good 98-99 I would go with that choice. But I think $7k for a 100k miles vehicle may be a little steep. For 100K cars NADA has a 98 at $6475.00 retail, Blue Book has retail at $6,950. Remember KBB retail means excellent condition, fully reconditioned. If you could find a 98/99 with 100K in cherry condition, ok, but not likely. So from the hip, I would say $6 tops.

First off thanks for the welcome.
This whole thing has become a mess. I was hoping to get rid of the truck in 4-8 months and get an Aurora. I had been slowly putting information together about which car I would like, the price range to look in, etc. Well that all went out the window today when the truck took a crap. I had hoped to maybe be able to swing the Aurora a little earlier and get it fairly soon, but after looking at finances tonight it isn't wise to go for the Aurora right now. We could swing the payments, but with a new baby on the way (and the first one at that) it isn't wise to step into a ~$200 a month payment right now. So it looks like I will be getting another S-10 truck, hopefully around the $3-4000 mark. But thats OK, I will drive the wheels off of the new truck I get and the wife will get a newer vehicle in a couple of years, would rather have the wife in a "very good" vehicle than both of us have just a "good" vehicle.
So, long story short, wanted to get the Aurora but circumstances have prevented it (for now).
Thanks for the input.
Guess I will just have to enjoy from a distance for now.

Well the truck used to be my "baby", but I started to notice the problems with it and I kinda lost my love of it. It was paid for and has served me well for many many years. It had 170k hard miles so I am not totally supprised.
I may have lost my "baby" but I will sure have a new one to spread my love on, little girl too. Never thought I would be this excited, heck a year ago I probably would have freaked.

Welcome, glad to have you around even if you may not be an Aurora owner for awhile. That new baby (the human one, hehe) will keep you busy and cost you plenty anyhow... I've got a 4-year old and a 7-month old and it's a pretty wild ride, especially with the first. You'll love it. It is certainly wise to resist the urge to buy an Aurora and take on payments that are beyond your means. Don't worry, there should be some of us Aurora fossils still around in 3-4 years... I hope. lol! ;D

Hey Snoman, congrats on the baby. Just keep looking, you'll find something. Not too far from you, I'm in Cincinnati.

Again, thanks for the welcome.
Hopefully in the future there will be an Aurora in the driveway (not stock of course). I guess I'm a sucker for a V-8 and since a GTO, Camaro, Firebird is out of the question I'll have to get the FWD Aurora (not that I would complain about having an Aurora)
It's not so much that we can't swing the payment, I just don't see the need to have $450+ a month in car payments (paying on the Bravada too, at least I have one Olds). No need to tie that much money up on cars when there are other things to do with it (at least at this point in life).

Seriously looking at an Aurora again.
I had kinda given up on the Aurora but I think I may have found one. The dealer where the wife and I purchased our Bravada (last year!!) has a nice looking '01 now that I am interested in.
Tell me what you think '01 3.5L, 63k, mooonroof and thats about it, all for $12k.
Now if I can just not get raped over the Bravada. I know it is stupid to sell after only a year but with the cost of fuel and the minor maintance items it needs are making me look at gettting rid of it.
Oh, well, we will see if they can get me out the door for under 12K and if they can they might have a deal.

I got my '01 3.5L, 57k, for $12k - no moonroof, but perfect condition, heated seats, precision control, passenger comfort, and that third package that comes standard with the 4.0L's... And I got a YEAR ago for that price. Does yours have those packages? So $12k is a bit too much. $10k is sound but it's doubtful the dealer would go that low. Though the price tag on mine in the lot was $14k... so you never know. Keep looking, though. Try ebay? They have realy good prices there... for instance: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AURORA-4-0-ONE-OWNER_W0QQitemZ4575981576QQcategoryZ6404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem...has sunroof, chrome, 4.0L, 69k, Bose... loaded except no heated seats, for only $11k... and from Florida! So keep looking

I would offer somewhere in the 10,000 range. 12,000 is way too much. Walk away if you dont get the deal you want.
