Hey all, thought I would extend an introduction. My name is Steve and I'm a senior in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University in Ames, Ia. Back in March I bought a 95 Aurora from a friend of the family and absolutely love the car. Ive been an active member on Oldsmobile Forums and have been trying to become a member here but for a while it wouldnt let me. Anyway, glad to be a part of this forum and look forward to future discussions.
About my car, it has 125,000 miles with approx. 76000 on a new engine. Its the pewter metallic color with tan interior. Been garaged its whole life and very well taken care of. This past summer I had the windows tinted (tastefully mind you, 15% back and sides and 35% up front). I would like to maybe install 01 16 or 17in wheels from a newer Aurora and maybe do an exhaust system upgrade.
If I can figure out how to post some pics Ill show her to ya. Have a good one.

Welcome Steve, you found the right place! Forget all those OF clowns... hehe just kidding, many of us came from there also. I'd be curious to know the story of your Aurora getting a new engine at 49k miles?! Also, for instructions on how to post images, see this thread.

Awesome, thanks for the pic posting help.
As far as the engine goes..... The guy I bought the car from is a long time friend of the family. He bought the car from his niece and her husband who bought the car with like 30k some odd miles. Well, he took it in to have it tuned up (plugs and things of that nature). Well, when they went to fire up the engine to move it at the shop, she threw a rod (or so they told them).
They absolutely loved the car and wanted to find an engine for it but couldnt find one with less than 90k miles. So he was going to junk the car when our friend found a low mileage engine and bought the car for his wife. Drove it ever since. Sounds a little fishy about the mechanics though. They for some reason wouldnt stand behind it.....maybe thats because they were rodding it.

Welcome aboard. Love to see new faces and ones that want to do upgrades. Keep us informed on your upgrades. Theres always at least one person that has done just about everything you can think of on these boards so it comes in handy big time.

Thats crazy about the new engine thing man. wow. I would be curious to know how much $$ that was remove + replace. would gimme an idea on a 4.6.
welcome to the club man, good to have new active members all the time. anytime you see a classic owner that looks like he cares about the car try to lure them in here as well. I always do it. Most will just say "Thers a club for this car?".

Thanks for all the welcoming comments. Nice to feel at home here already, I never really did on OF. For those of you Ill try and dig up some info on that engine swap because it appears Im the only one that has had something like this happen. Oldsauroraman1, college isnt going to bad. I can see the end in sight but yet am not quite ready to graduate. I would like to get a co-op with a company and get some good work experience before I actually go out and try to find a permanent job. I spend an aweful lot of time working on homework and labs and whatever in the meantime.
As far as owning and driving this car...WOW. People tried saying oh youll never be happy in a car. Well to tell you the truth i dont like driving my truck anymore. Its rough riding and a little sloppy in its old age. However I am going to put the car away for the winter, keep it nice as long as possible. Look forward to talking with each of you and reading posts on these amazing machines.

Congrats and keep up the good work. I have a few engineering buddies here at UCF and its not easy. (I'm Business)
