Hey great forum of info I have been on the site a few times looking at various topics for the classic aurora. I recently purchased a 95 autobahn with 88k that wouldn't shift out of 2nd but being a GM warranty administrator and former tech I already knew what it was before i even looked at it(the infamous shift solenoids). Also have done alot of other work in the past few months to it as well and now in chasing a code p0076 pressure control solenoid circuit..I will have to keep you guys informed so if any when else runs into this intermittent problem.Look forward to seeing u guys on the board..Thanks again Brian

Welcome to the club...always good to have a tech on board. 88k is the earliest ive heard of. hmm. Before they went, did it feel any different? Did the trans slip on the 1-2 shift or the 2-1 downshift (like mine does)?

I thought the '95-96's tended to have solenoid problems not specifically related to mileage. I thought it was more they weren't installed properly and would get physically messed up over time?

I'm not sure on how it was shifting before the solenoids broke because they were previously broken by the last owner thats how i purchased it..but there are tabs all over the place for them..there is an updated bracket that retains them so they do not seperate..but when i drove it home it was definitely stuck in 2nd...

Welcome tahoesport!!! As mention, great to have a GM tech on board as well as another passionate aurora owner. And an 88k autobahn, great find even with a minor glitch in the system. Look forward to hearing more from ya.

Good luck. I hate that when you do all that work and then the problem is still there. But for the learning experience.
Do you work for a GM dealership?

yes i hate that too..but Ive already had the trans apart once and changed the pcs solenoid, swapped pcms and proms, ran new wires from the trans to the pcm, reset and reprogrammed shift points and line taps..so the internal trans harness is definitely suspect now seeing thats the only other thing it could be..lol. Its funny when it comes down to your own vehicle the extent you will go through to fix something like this..If it was a customers vehicle we would have just sold them a complete trans to the tune of 3000-4000k.. yes i work for a dealer..
