You mean you need to program the remote?

Ah...I always thought that if the Security light on the money bar flashes, the system is engaged. However, I have never sufficient rocked my car enough after its been locked to set off the alarm.
Hrm...apparently on some GM cars you can set the sensitivity of the alarm.

Open the driver's side window. Turn off the car and take the keys out of the ignition. Then, close the door and activate the alarm. When you try to open the door with the alarm on, the alarm will activate. If alarm fob doesn't work, use the lock button on the door while it is open. Lock the door and close it. The security light will flash for a few seconds. When it goes off, try and open the door. The alarm should go off again.

Ahh how ironic this post appeared, Joe and I were just arguing about the alarm system in the 95 I said it didn’t have just a fake me out security light to scare away potential intruders LoL hey it made more sense in my head… the key fobs only came with lock unlock and trunk release, no panic button so I assumed no alarm… looks like I’ll have to try something out on my lunch break… hey I am all about disrupting my workplace anyway... Now I can do it from out side – awesome!

I always thought the theft deterrent system was standard for the factory. Maybe that's just for the 98-99's?

but do all aurora have an alarm? and how can i activate it If you have an alarm, it should be automatically activated (armed) when the doors are locked with the remote. Give that test (mentioned above) a try, by unlocking and opening the door manually AFTER you lock the doors with the remote. Let us know what happens! P.S. (Someone here with a 95-97 must have their owner's manual, that states whether or not the alarm is standard...)

There is no alarm on the 95's, just the security light. Alarms started in the middle of 96. Found that out researching mine. It uses the PASSKEY which is more trouble than it is worth. Keep giving me false lockouts. I finally reprogrammed the computer so it is not looking for the key.
