The owners manual says you can use regular but it will hurt performance - I believe there's a sensor that changes the timing to prevent detonation, it's just that you will lose the performance.

Yes Howard, the knock sensor will retard timing thereby lowering the total power output of the engine. The link kobalt supplied explains it all. I had read all this stuff before but haven't seen it explained so fully and simply elsewhere.

I got a bargain yesterday, $1.85.9 from a local station. Most are $1.95 to $1.99 for premium.
