I feel like this site is really starting to roll. Just in the short time I've owned my Aurora and been around here, I've seen SO much helpful info from fellow Aurorites! ;D However, we still seem to have a fairly small number of consistent members who post frequently. I think we need some recruiting! Admins, how has it been done thus far? I know posts have been placed on other boards (oldsmobileforums.com, automotiveforums.com, even some plugs by Jim and I at bonnevilleclub.com, etc.)... but how about some "real life" spreading of the word! These are not new ideas, but I'd like to see flyers and business cards (for handing out or placing under Aurora windshield wipers) as soon as we have a recognized and authorized ACNA logo. They can be made fairly inexpensively, and we can all do our part in distribution that way. I know I see all kinds of Auroras around my area, and many are sporting nice aftermarket improvements... I'm sure the owners are just waiting to hear from us (although they just don't know it yet)! Any other ideas or updates?

I agree! I think we need to get the word out! I've already told a few people in my neck of the woods about this forum (athough I don't think it did much good) but I don't think they feel a great need to come check us out. Oh well, their loss.

It’s funny that you say that because that is something that I have been looking into since day one. I’ve even discussed that very idea of slipping business cards under windshield wipers, LoL (much like the LODs do) to get the word out. Although like pretty much everything else things cost money and I’d be unable to do that at the moment. I am hoping in the not to distant future that could be on the way…

As far as business cards go... card stock is pretty cheap, and I own a laser printer. So all I need is an approved design & text, and I could print those off lickety-split!

How about some ads on the Superbowl? Ok, too much $, maybe the Stanley Cup then, should be REAL cheap for TV time on that this year. Seriously though, how about targeting online surfers with some banner exchange. I know of some sites with a lot of traffic from males of all ages....well, maybe not those sites. But there should be numerous legitimate sites that need free ads. Would proboards support this?

I don't think it's a good idea to get proper business cards printed - they may not cost much in the first place but then there's the postage sending a few to everyone who wants them - it would make more sense to design one and let everyone print off their own. That way it doesn't cost, and we can print off just as many as we want. Just my 2 cents (that's 1.6 cents US)

Edit - cost analysis posted in gallons of gasoline mwahaha. 1g = $1.98.
250 inkjet businesscards = 4.96g
Average inkjet printer = .06g/page (250 cards = 1.5g) Total Price = 6.48g
250 professional business cards (@ 10.1g/1000) + postage = 2.89g
3000 professional business cards = 30.28g (free shipping over 25.25g)
3000 cards @ 2.89g/250 = 34.72g or 2.89g split 12 ways.
Total savings = 3.59g per person. ($7.11)

Wow, you put some time into that. BUT.... It doesn't look like you factored in sending the cards out to everyone interested. I don't think the company would split up the shipment and send it to 12 different addresses, for instance. Still not a bad idea!

Ah, but I did! To ship 250 business cards is going to be about $0.74 via USPS.
$19.99/4 = $4.99 +$0.74 = $5.73 or (2.89g)

If that were the case, I really wouldn't have a problem putting up the fee for mailing them too people interested, I buy bulk in postage due to frequent mailings out of my household... anyway...
For the people really interested in passing out cards, then we can see what we can get brewing...

Hmm, guess I'm the one dissenter. This site will get bigger as it gets to be more useful. More people will add more pointless posts, more "my car is broken, how can I cheap out on the repair" posts, and less politeness and decency. And if there isn't useful info that continues, the large group of people will not stay active, and the site will basically die.
Enjoy the site's size as it is, because it won't be this way forever. Post useful, interesting, contributing stuff. Enjoy each other's thoughts, observations, and knowledge. The site will grow, and one day you'll pine for the younger days. Don't be in a hurry to grow up.

Gee golly whiz ... thanks, Dad! ;D I think business cards (to hand out just as an invitation if nothing else) are a good way to putting the word out, without being bombastic or annoying. Perhaps 1000 cards *is* a but numerous, and we could start with 50 or 100 to see if there is any response.

I don't see many Aurora's that are parked - they are mostly on the move, and I'm not sure I'd want to put anything under the wiper of a moving car. Most of the drivers round here seem to be little blue haired old ladies anyway. Give me a template and I might carry a dozen or so around in the car, but if someone sends them to me that's probably a waste of money. omegaic - did you allow that some of the postage will be to Canada and costs more?

I saw a couple of Auroras at my university. Im thinking someone could make sort of a recruitment flyer/tri-fold and we could then distribute onto Auroras parked in suitable parking lots.
