Is it intentional that there are political ads strewn in with the rest of the ads? I find it rather annoying, and a good way to alienate 1/2 of the people from this forum.

Advertisement content rarely can be controlled on fourms to the best of my knowledge

Keep in mind that Proboards is a free service, and the ads generated are not under our control, just and FYI.
Frankly the subject is best avoided.

hmm, i haven't noticed, heh, i never even notice those things. I have noticed too Aurora, as well as the fact that they seem to favor a certain candidate. I just ignore and scroll down to the more important stuff! ;D

I honestly dont think its going to sway voters...lol. If you are intending to vote GWB, then I doubt a banner ad for Kerry/Edwards will affect your decision all that much.
I havent seen it since yesterday, so, its probably on some random advertisement thing.

That's not really the point. It could have a bunch of racial slogans too and it wouldn't make me decide to be racist. That doesn't mean I wouldn't find it objectionable.

Point taken, you may want to contact Proboards and ask them why?

I'm sure proboards are the same as anyone else - they'll take ads from any group as long as it doesn't break the law - like racist slogans would. I think it has something to do with freedom of speech.

Election? Is there an election this year? With the Sox leading the Dark Empire 10-3 in the 9th I hadn't realized there was an election going on. Uh oh, now I've brought up something REALLY contoversial.

If you're upset by political ads, just lock yourself in your basement and turn off the main breaker. Provided you have no battery-operated radios turned on, you should be okay!

I wonder if the Red Sox victory over the Yankees will help America fall in love with Massachusetts and see Kerry win the Presidency....
Or will George have to go to his friends in the Supreme Court again...
I cant wait til its over in November, even north of the border we are 100% insatiable for this election fiasco.

I think it has something to do with freedom of speech. And the freedom to accept lots of $$$ to show the ads. It's actually not a bad idea, since I would imagine the majority of internet users are young voters (high school and college age) who are likely to be undecided as well as easily swayed by commercial advertising and the propoganda that has overtaken this election.

I don't know how undecided us college students actually are, everyone i seam to encounter are very set on who we want in office. i don't know if i can say the same for people in high school though

I never said that they should not be allowed to take political ads, I merely questioned the judgement of doing so.

Like Scotty says - a lot of internet users are young and amongst the undecided voters and therefore make a prime target for political ads. At least it will all go away in a couple of weeks.
