Yes, it's me Get this: I call up an ad in my local newspaper for a '96 Olds Aurora going for $2500. Yes, Aurora  She says it's great except for two things: It leaks oil It needs new tires in a few months, she says. But she says it's fine besides those things. Chamagne w/ beige interior, she says. 106k miles, something like that (was under 110k, anyway...) But the craziest thing is this: She works where my mom works, and knows my mom  Crazy! Anyways, going to look at it tomorrow. Oh yeah, one last thing: JimW or scotty, do you know how I could tell where the oil is leaking from? Thanks What else should I look for at that mileage, also? Same things as with that other Aurora? Anything different being that it's a '96? I'm wondering what I should offer her, if that's all that's wrong... My idea is that, if I can get it for cheap enough, it's a good deal. Figure oil leak costs a grand, tires about $300 for the kind I want. All negotiating points Thanks guys, for everything Wow, what a crazy world this is  Just when I thought I got out, they keep pulling me back in! LOL...

oil leak fix is $1800 btw....they have to pull the engine to get to the rear seal typical GM design right there. i know this cause mine leaks some as well but it doesnt hit the ground. its internal somewhere near the pan. screw it i aint fixing that unless it was pouring on the ground would be different.

If you are interested I suggest getting a quote for that oil leak and take the quote for the repair to the seller. Maybe she'll come down...maybe not, $2500 for a 96 is a good price...seriously for what you get. Fixing the oil leak is well worth it. You might even be able to get some warranty on it (the oil repair that is).
Worth considering for sure.

It could be the rear seal, but could be something else as well. Jack up the car and have a look before buying.
