Overall I am not impressed with the work of my driver's side windshield wiper blade. It sometimes skips along the glass on the way down, and even when it seems to wipe smoothly there are still streaks or wet splotches left behind. Does anyone else have this problem on their Classic? I recently replaced my wiper blades with refills (just the rubber part, I kept the original brackets installed) but the performance only improved slightly. Could the bracket be bent out of shape somehow, causing the blade to not contact/clean the windshield properly? The mounts seem flexible enough that it shouldn't be a problem, but I don't know what else to try.

Scotty,
You might want to try and replace the wiper arm on that side. The arm that is on there now must not have enough pressure to keep the blade on the glass. Also, when you go to the gas station next try to use their squeegee on the blades. It will help get all the road dirt and grime that accumulates on their. If not, try a silicon wiper blade (make sure its not rubber). Silicon resists temperature and humidity changes better. I recommend tripleedge ones (if you can find them).
Good Luck! ;D

I always replace the entire blade assembly. I thought everyone did. Never had any luck with just replacing the rubber insert. As for brands, I always stick with good ol' Anco, always works with no streaking.

I agree; I just replaced the wipers on both Aurora's last weekend. I always use Anco and replace the whole blade, not just the insert. About once a week, I also take a paper towel, spray Windex on it, and wipe down the rubber part on the blade. You'd be surprised how dirty those wipers get.

I like what Rain-X does, but every time I've applied it I get a cloudy residue on the windshield... and looking thru that all the time isn't worth the water-beading properties. I guess I'll try replacing the whole wiper bracket on the driver's side, to see if that helps my water-clearing woes.

One way to prolong wiper life is to use a rubber/vinyl protectant on it every once in a while. Just be sure to buff it off after you apply it or it will streak. If you get cloudiness with Rain-X, here's one way to apply it. When you are going to wash the car, clean your window first, apply the Rain-X but don't buff it off. Then just wash the car and window. It will buff it off and leave it beading but without that annoying haze/cloudiness.

I've always used crumpled up newspaper to apply it and have newer had any problems.

When you applied the Rain-X, what did you use to apply it? I've always used crumpled up newspaper to apply it and have newer had any problems. One Rain-X kit I used came with a "special applicator pad" that was white and a spongy material. Before that I just used a terrycloth rag or towel, but perhaps I'll try newspaper next time!

Any car I've ever owned I have just waxed the windshield. Take the buffer to all of em, and it beads better than any rain-x. Works wonders.

it never clouds on me. what u do it with 1 paper towel soak it with rain X (away from your car) and rub it into your windshield. let it sit for 10 miniutes then get a soaked wet paper towel and a dry towel and wipe it off and imediately after dry it. dont do it in the sun and if it still looks cloudy go over it with water again.
