I was just wondering if anyone has heard of anyone making white faced gauges made for the "Classic" Aurora, i found one web site way back when that had gauges for like every car, but i lost it, that and they were cheap, like 30 bux U.S.
Thanx Much

Well, after some research, i found the websight that i thought might have it (www.procarparts.com) but they seemed to not have anything for the aurora

Are you refering to the white faced gages like in the previous 300M or new Nissans? I bet its not common for the Aurora since the target market for these cars is an age that is not really interested in those kinds of cosmetic mods. You can however, change the color of your dash lights

hmm, yeah, i suppose that makes sense. do you have a link for how to change the dash light color?, that sounds good to me, cause that green ( i think its green ) just seems old to me since it the same color as what i had in my '89 Olds 98

That's a big can of worms right there. Changing all the dash lighting requires you dis-assemble the dash board and gauge cluster.

Oh! I'm not saying its a walk around the maypole, however it has been done before. There is an Aurora on Cardomain with all blue dash lighting. Not really my thing, I like the green over blue.
If I was feeling mighty daring, I would go reddish orange, but...heh..green is fine!

Reddish orange looks pretty good....back in the mid 1990s I rented a 1995 Bonneville that had that color of dash lighting. It looked great. _______________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

I like the BMW's and Audi's with the red backlighting. I have to admit that the green/blue is easier on the eyes tho. More contrast?

I find blue on black impossible to see (however VW has gotten it right with soft mixes of red and white in there) but I really like the red.
Green suits me just fine, the Aurora has SO many lights, its not worth it to change em all IMO

I have the blue lighting inside of my gauges, That's probably one of the Auroras that you saw on Cardomain.com, at first I changed the lights in there with some blue L.E.D.s, but I found out later that the LED's would start to burn out eventually so I made some changes. I took some HYBRIDS bulbs size 194 and installed them in there which I like alot better than the stock green, which looked dim and dull. I decided to change the lighting behind the gauges because, I got tired of looking at my gauges at night and I wanted more light in there, so after several ideas, I changed the bulbs in there with some the Hybrids 194 size bulbs, with new plastics holders for the bulbs that I found at AutoZone. I had a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue which I had done this to before, so that's were I got the idea. At the end it looked real nice and 3 times brighter and the cool blue was more comfortable to look at also.
I will be putting some pictures of my final project for you all to see.
Peace.

I suppose it depends on the intensity of the light. I can only speak based on my experiences with blue on black, it never reads all that well. If you have pics with instructions that would be great, simply due to the fact that others may want to try another colour. And yes, it was your car on CD, it sticks out

I was under the impression that the Luxeon Star 326lux superbright LEDs had over 150,000 power-on-hours before burn-out.
150,000 hours = 34 years @ 12hours/day
(I was considering doing some drastic LED mods to my car after I got my hands on a retired whelen LED lightbar.)

Here is a picture of the LED's at that time, plus if you look, the light was not spreading evenly, since the LED tend to point the light pattern forward. And this is a picture of the HYBRIDS 194 bulbs.

maybe the LED's burnt out because they were running at a higher voltage than they were ment to, i don't think they are meant to be running at 12 volts, more like 2, maybe up to like 5. otherwise, like omegaic said, they should last like 150,000 power on hours.

That could be what happen. They should let you know, if your going to use them in your car, but since their made to use in your car in the first place, they shouldn't burn out.
I don't know.
I have other L.E.D.'s in the inside of my car, for the courtesy lights I found a place that had that size, and I had them in there for several months now and they have not burned out, so I don't know, weird.

I wonder if anyone here would want to do a GROUP BUY, from www.speedhut.com, they specialized in Indiglo Gauges. Any one interested let me know. Sample Picture.

I would consider that, if my car had black interior, it may contrast nicely. I think it may look out of place on the two-tone tan of my car.
I'm sure you may generate some interest with this offer tho.

I think it wouldn't look bad at all, even if you have a 2 tone color.
Yeah, it would look nicely if you have the Black on Black Aurora, but it should not look bad at all.

Hrm, I guess it could look ok... How much does it sell for? and how easy is it to dissamble the gage? I had a friend that added red backlighting to his Cutlass supreme SL and broke the coolant temp gage. I really dont want anything to breake during the installation of these white faced gages.

It's not that difficult at all, I took my gauges out some many times, never had a problem, 5 or 6 screws and the whole gauges came out, plus the ones that we would get through www.SPEEDHUT.com would be overlays, I think. A real breeze, looking at your Aurora, they would match nicely, since your interior it's light color, you know what I mean.

I saw the Alero gages, looks similar to ours, I would want the KPH gages tho I do like the idea of customizing a string of text on the gage, thats pretty cool!

Yeah that's what I like about that place, it let's you choose diferrent logos and text, long with graphics.
As for pricing, since we would be the first ones with a set, it would start around $99.00, with free logos and text/graphics, plus you get the indiglo inverter too.
We only need 25 pre-orders to get the tooling started.
It's seems cool.

Javi...I'm ready to buy mine. Should I just order online or is there anything special we have to do? Thats what I want on the speedo and tach You can order at www.speedhut.com and just be sure to e-mail them with your desing which it would be the Aurora template or letters, so they can place them in your Indiglo Gauges, after all, all Aurora gauges will be custom made to your specifications and desing. Just let them know that I told you that they can do the Aurora lettering. Javi.
