I have found that a silicone based wax is excellent for protecting the finish of the Burled Walnut trim on the Driver, Passenger, and Console Pieces. Can get at most major retail stores or from detailer supply companys. Works great especially when raining out and interior of door is exposed.

What brand did you use?

I've used wood waxes with great success as well. The wood is urethane coated, so paint wax or wood wax will all work well, as will plastic care products.

How do I remove a scratch from the wood trim? I don't want to cause more damage through trial and error . . .

I've found that the spray wax that you use on the paint of the car works best for the wood. It clears scratches away, and doesnt leave any streaks... It also leaves a nice shiny finish

Pledge Commercial available at Staples is awesome for all interior surfaces including speedometer plastic - clean clean and repels dust

On the Classic, the "wood" isn't even real wood, so I just use the same interior protectant that I use on the dash.

the "wood" as you say in the classic IS real wood on the console only - laminated walnut i believe - no question about it (I broke one at a scrap yard tying to take it off) - it can easily be seen around the ashtray. the door trim however is a marginally acceptable facsimile

All of the wood trim on the Classic is Genuine Burled Walnut. Laminated and shaped. Thats why those little pieces on the door arm rest cost almost $200 bucks. ::-)

In my '99, the wood "cover" on a rear ash try has warped badly. Is the dealer the only source for a replacement?
Thanks
