Both of my cup holders in my 95 are broken . Has anyone out there every replaced theirs? Is it a simple replacement? How about the cost?

Sorry about the poles. My intentions was to ask a question, and somehow created the poles. The poles can be ignored (again, my apology), but the question still stands.

My center console cupholders are fine and pop out just as they should. There is crusty gunk in the open/close gear tracks (that I can't reach with a Q-tip) from the hundred cups of coffee that the previous owner must have spilled... ...but other than that mine are fine. What part of your cupholder(s) broke? To compare replacement costs, call your local GM dealer and have them give you a price & part number (or someone here with a parts list can post it). Then check the part number at gmpartsdirect.com and you'll probably save money. Also check salvage yards for donor parts.

My pop outs are ok. It's the plastic, spring loaded arm that holds the cup in place that are completely broken off. Ever since I found out about this forum, I've re-kindled my love for the Aurora, and now want to repair all the things that are broken/missing in it. Thanks for the response. P.S. How do I become a full member of this forum? I would like to eventually post a picture, and receive stars like all the other members .

Well,
My cupholder just went out on my Aurora about a week ago, is not closing shut, I was getting a carwash and the people there messed it up, sincebefore I knew my cupholder had problems, so somehow I manage to keep it closed, it would not open, but after the carwash, it won't saty folded up. I'm waiting to take my Aurora to the Cadillac dealer to have it looked at,
I'm just wondering if it's covered under my [glow=red,2,300]GMPP[/glow]warranty.
I also have an issue with the shifter light snapping/breaking of loose (right at the base of the plastic housing, I hope that's covered under the warranty too.
Javs.

so is that free then like a recall or...? Are TSB repairs always free, or only with a GM extended warranty? I happened to notice (while browsing the Aurora TSB's on the NHTSA website) that there was one from '99 for heated seats not working. I'd love if I could get my front passenger seat heater fixed for free... unfortunately my third-party extended warranty does not cover such luxuries.

For the classic Aurora There is a Technical service bulletin No.: 99-08-50-021 That covers Front seat heat elements not working and how to replace them Addendum I just found this one. TSBs aren't recalls and therefore are not free. unless the vehicle is covered under warranty. Sometimes with stuff like seat belts etc. (safety) it may worth finding out from a stealer.

Got the call back from the dealer and they said that the Warranty could not cover the Cup Holders, I don't know why they would decide not to, since there is a Technical Service Bulletin out there already.
And they told me that the new part which is the whole center console would cost $935.00, if I wanted to get it, I said nah thanks.
Better off looking at a salvage part or something.

LOL thats your stealership. A whole center console on ebay is like 100 bucks. cupholders i dont really worry about anymore, lol. Both of mine are broken but i just hold my drink inbetween my legs when driving, hehe. I remember my dad used to do the same in his 97 aurora.

usually if i have my cell phone in my pocket while i'm driving i either can't hear it, or by the time i get it out of my pocket it's already gone to the voicemail. , plus then you can see it light up at night if someone calls.

Everyone knows that you shouldn't talk on your cell phone while you are driving. Hehe, so true... the #1 cause of idiot drivers to date. ;D In a few more years, I can see cell-phone-driving being made illegal in many places... but heck, by then most of us will probably have a cell phone receiver implanted in our brains, so the handset will be obsolete. And luckily my cup-holders are still holding strong... just to prove I can keep this response on-topic.

yes, my cup holder seem to be nice and strong too last time i checked. heh, well, i believe i choose wisely where i use my cell phone when i'm driving, if i'm in the city, sure, i won't use it, but i live out in the boonies where all i have to worry about is deer running out in front of me. although soon i will be going to milwaukee again. in that case i keep the talking while driving to a minimum.

My cup holder on the right does not swing out as the spring holding apparatus is broken.
